My brothers and sisters in Islam as talked about a few weeks ago on
the subject of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) marriage to Aisha RA. We
made the point that really all these secondary questions are just that
secondary compared to the main question of the truthfulness of Islam.
And that truthfulness of Islam is mainly shown, mainly manifest, mainly
made clear by the Quran being a book that proves itself to have a
divine source. We mentioned that if we look and examine the quran we
find that its divine properties touch many different subjects. Two of
these are the ayaat that science agrees with, and second is the
prophesies or events of the future that the quran made. So lets ponder
on a example in each subject.
But first lets look at the encouragement that Allah gives us in the
Quran to be of those who use our minds, to be of those who reflect, of
those who ponder.
Allah Tala say in the Qurran:
لق ان مم خ نس لينظر اإل ف
86:5 So let man see from what is created!
Another locations Allah says
4 of 18
document.docx 04/08/2023
30:8 Do they not think deeply about themselves? Allah has created not
the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, except with
truth and for an appointed term. And indeed many of mankind deny
the Meeting with their Lord.
In another location Allah Tala says:
3:190 Behold! in the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the
alternation of night and day,- there are indeed Signs for men of
understanding,-
3:191 Men who celebrate the praises of Allah, standing, sitting, and
lying down on their sides, and contemplate the (wonders of) creation in
the heavens and the earth, (With the thought): "Our Lord! not for
5 of 18
document.docx 04/08/2023
naught Hast Thou created (all) this! Glory to Thee! Give us salvation
from the penalty of the Fire.
These and other similar ayaat tell us my brothers and sisters that the
heavens and earth were created for a noble purpose, and not for jest.
These and other similar ayaat also are challenging us to look in the
creation of the heavens and in the earth for Allah’s signs, for Allah’s
proofs. So now lets look at a couple of examples of how the Qurran is
relevant in this age of science and technology.
Lets us start with a proof in our own bodies. Look at your fingertips and
look at the imprint on them. The Science of today tells us that no two
human being has the same fingernail. This fact was discovered first
by Sir Francis Galton in 1880.
That is why fingerprints are used to identify humans.
Now what does the quran say about fingerprints. Does the Quran say
the fingerprints of no two human are the same?
Well the Kuffar used to argue during Rasoolullah’s about being
resurrected after their bones were turned into dust and how each
6 of 18
document.docx 04/08/2023
individual would be identified on the day of Judgment. In fact Allah
quote the Kuffar in the Qurran when he says in Surat An Naaziat:
79:10 They say (now): "What! shall we indeed be returned to (our)
former state?
79:11 "What! - when we shall have become rotten bones?"
Allah Tala answered these doubts by saying that not only will He
assemble our bones, but also reconstruct us perfectly, down to our
very fingertips. Allah says (75 3-4):
KبMسOحM Mي MجOمMعM عXظMامMهK }أ Mل_ن ن انK أ MنسX O3 اإل}[Yusufali 75:3] Does man think that We cannot assemble his
bones?
MلMى MهK }ب Mان Mن وjيM ب Mسl Mن ن {4 قMادXرXينM عMلMى أYes Indeed! We are able to put together in perfect order down
to the tips of his fingers.
So the question is who could have know at the revelation of the
Quran the uniqueness of each human fingernail, we already said that
this knowledge was not know to the world until 1880. The only logical
7 of 18
document.docx 04/08/2023
answer is none except the one who created those fingerprints Allah
Tala knew of their uniqueness.
Now lets turn our attention to skies. One question that we could raise
is does clouds have weight. Many people think that clouds are
weightless, that they are just fluff.
Science tells us that clouds do have weight, and the density of the
cloud determines the weight. Density is weight per unit volume.
Science tells that a typical cumulonimbus cloud or thundercloud can
contain up to 300,000 tons of water. That’s equivalent to the weight of
150,000 – 2000 lbs cars.
Amazingly the book of Allah tells us that clouds have weight. In Surat
Raad ayah 12:
It is He Who shows you the lightning, as fear (for
travellers) and as a hope (for those who wait for rain)
And it is He Who brings up the clouds, heavy (with water)
(Qur'an, 13:12)
So who at the time of the revelation of the Qurran could have
known that clouds have weight, the answer again is none but the
one who created the clouds Allah Tala.
The Fate of Specific Individuals
Perish the two hands of Abû Lahab (an uncle of the Prophet), and perish he![] (1) His wealth and his children will not benefit him! (2) He will be burnt in a Fire of blazing flames! (3) And his wife too, who carries wood (thorns of Sadan which she used to put on the way of the

Prophet (SAW) , or use to slander him)[]. (4) In her neck is a twisted rope of Masad (palm fibre).[] (5)
Perish the two hands of Abû Lahab (an uncle of the Prophet), and perish he![] (1) His wealth and his children will not benefit him! (2) He will be burnt in a Fire of blazing flames! (3) And his wife too, who carries wood (thorns of Sadan which she used to put on the way of the Prophet (SAW) , or use to slander him)[]. (4) In her neck is a twisted rope of Masad (palm fibre).[] (5)
Also, concerning Abu Lahab, a fiery opponent of Islam, the Quran foretold he will die opposing the religion of God:
“May the hands of Abu Lahab perish, and [indeed] he has perished. His wealth and gains will not profit him. He will be plunged in flaming Fire.” (Quran 111:1-3)
Specifically, three prophecies were made about Abu Lahab:
(i) The conspiracies of Abu Lahab against the Prophet would not succeed.
(ii) His wealth and children would not benefit him.
(iii) He would die opposing God’s religion and enter the Fire.
Abu Lahab also died in a state of disbelief as prophesized by the Quran. Had Waleed or Abu Lahab accepted Islam even outwardly, they would have disproved its prophecies and thus its heavenly source!
In addition, Abu Lahab had four sons, two of whom died at a young age during his lifetime. The other two sons and a daughter embraced Islam and frustrated his hopes! Finally, he died of a plague; people would not touch his body out of fear of contamination and dumped mud and stones on him where he died to make it his grave.

Waleed bin Mugheera was a staunch enemy who openly ridiculed the Quran:
“Then said he: “This is nothing but magic, derived from of old; this is nothing but the word of a mortal!” (Quran 74:24-25)
The Quran prophesized he will never accept Islam:
“Soon will I cast him into Hell-Fire! And what will explain to thee what Hell-Fire is? It leaves naught nor does it spare aught.” (Quran 74:26-28)
Waleed died in a state of disbelief as prophesized by the Quran.
A key foundation to believing that a scripture is actually a revelation of God is internal truth, whether it be in regards to occurrences in the past, to come in the future, or in contemporary ages. As one can see, there are many prophecies mentioned in that which is to come, some of which were fulfilled in the Prophet’s lifetime, or have been fulfilled since his death, while others are yet to appear.
So we ask Allah to gives us the understanding, and blessings of
the grand Quran.

My brothers and sisters in Islam the Quran is not a book of
science (spell it), but it is a book of ayaat or signs (spell), or
proofs. There a over 6000 ayaat in the Qurran over 1000 of these
ayaat deal with the science.
We have seen in the first part of this Khutbah how science
has congruence, agreement, and consistency with the
Qurran when it comes to the uniqueness of fingerprints,
weight of clouds, and the hydrologic cycle. Notice here I said
modern science has congruence, and not that the Quran has
congruence to modern science.
Our scholars have proven how the other fields that the Quran
addresses, how science is also consistent with those ayaat.
So the bottom line question is, how could our Beloved Rasool,
who could not read, or write, who lived long before modern
science confirmed the scientific ayaat how could he have known
about these scientific phenomenal. The only logical, rational,
plausible, answer is the Prophet (SAW) only knew what Allah the
King of the Universe revealed to him in the Qurran, which is the
very actual, real, direct word of Allah. Allah informs of this in the
Quran
11 of 18
document.docx 04/08/2023
6:50 Say (Oh Muhammad): "I do not tell you that with me are
the treasures of Allah, nor do I know the unseen, nor do I tell
you that I am an angel. I but follow what is revealed to me."
Say: "Are the blind and the one who sees equal.(Meaning i s the
one who is guided, following the truth, equal to the one
misled' )" Will you then not think?
And as for the doubters of the Quran, Allah gives them a challenge
when he says:
4:82 Do they not consider, reflect, ponder the Qur'an carefully?
Had it been from other Than Allah, they would surely have
found therein Much discrepancy, contradictions, mistakes.
Gary Miller a Muslim revert to Islam gives a nice analogy when
reflecting on this challenge in his booklet “The amazing Quran”
This is a clear challenge to the non-Muslim. Basically, it invites him to
find a mistake. As a matter of fact, the seriousness and difficulty of the
challenge aside, the actual presentation of such a challenge in the first
place is not even in human nature and is inconsistent with man's
personality. One doesn't take an exam in school after finishing the
exam, write a note to the instructor at the end saying, "This exam is
perfect. There are no mistakes in it. Find one if you can!". One just
12 of 18
document.docx 04/08/2023
doesn't do that. The teacher would not sleep until he found a mistake!
And yet this is the way the Qur'an approaches people”
In my conclusion my brothers and sisters in Islam, the bottom line is
that the Quran, is a light, a criterion between right and wrong, a guide,
an owners for you and I on how to live life so that we be successful in
this world and the hereafter. Allah in his infinite wisdom has givens
proofs of the Quran’s divine source through over 1000 ayat related to
the tangible world. These proofs establish without a shadow of doubt
as to divine source of the Quran. So what is your role and mine, well
my brothers and sisters Rasullah said,
Grab hold of, seize, hold on to five before five.
1. Your youth before you your old age,
2. your health before your sickness,
3. your wealth before your poverty,
4. your spare time before becoming busy,
5. your life before you death.
So one wisdom our beloved Rasool is telling us the two thieves
are yesterday, when we say I should, or I could, or I wish, and
tomorrow when we say I will do that, or I will do it tomorrow so and so
forth. The point is all we have is today (pause). So my challenge to
myself and you is do we know our book, do we ponder upon the
challenges that the Quran has, when was the last time you picked up
the Quran, read it, reflected upon it, and said I will use this or that from
the Quran in my life.
Maulana Maududi may Allah have mercy upon him, states in the
introduction of his Tafsir book that the Quran is not a book a person
could open in front of a cozy fire on a evening but rather that the
13 of 18

Quran is most benefical to those live it. Because it is a practical manual
on how to live life.
So let us attend the halaqa, let us go to the tajweed sessions, let us
read the Quran in our homes, in our work places, whenever we have
time let us read pick up the furqaan, but let us do it today.
