Course DescriptionThis conference is an annual review of new and important topics in diagnostic surgical pathology. This symposium is designed to highlight recent advances in surgical pa-thology with corresponding clinical corre-lation and prognostic implications.
The 2012 symposium will focus on Placental and Gynecologic Pathology and Cytology. Teaching formats will be interactive lectures, panel discussions and case discussions.
Goals1. Improve diagnostic ability in placental
changes with maternal and fetal impli-cations, benign and malignant lesions of the uterus and cervix and gyneco-logic and non-gynecologic cytology specimens.
2. Review the importance of gross evalu-ation of placenta.
Course Objectives Participants will:
• assess and identify gross lesions of the placenta
• develop their understanding of medical and oncologic placental pathology
• review benign lesions of the gynecologic tract as well as malignancies of the endometrium, myometrium and cervix
• discuss gynecologic and non-gyne-cologic cytology specimens, including EBUS cytology (endobronchial ultra-sound-guided FNA)
DisclosureSpeakers will be requested to disclose to the audience any real or apparent conflict(s) of interest that may have a direct bearing on the subject matter of this program.
AccreditationThe Office of Continuing Education and Professional Development (CEPD), Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto, is fully accredited by the Committee on Accredi-tation of Continuing Medical Education (CACME), a subcommittee of the Commit-tee on Accreditation of Canadian Medical Schools (CACMS). This standard allows the Office of CEPD to assign credits for educational activities based on the criteria established by The College of Family Phy-sicians of Canada, and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
Additionally, the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education of the Unit-ed States (ACCME) maintains a reciproc-ity relationship with CACME, which the American Medical Association (AMA) rec-ognizes for the purpose of allowing Cana-dian medical schools the ability to accredit activities for AMA PRA Category 1. As a result of a reciprocal agreement between the AMA and the European Accreditation Council for CME (EACCME), this agree-ment permits the Office of CEPD to assign EACCME credits.
Letters of Accreditation/AttendanceLetters of accreditation/attendance will be available online following the conference. Participants will be e-mailed information approximately two weeks after comple-tion of the course specifying how to obtain their letters online.
Electronic SyllabusTo reduce the environmental impact of our meeting, a printed syllabus will not be provided. Should you wish to have hand-outs prior to the meeting, a secured link will be e-mailed to you the week before the meeting.
