Year 1/2 Outside Area
Year 1 and 2 have been enjoying their new outside area this week. The outside area has
been developed to aid transition between the Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 and the
children have been enjoying themselves immensely!
Max M in Year 1 said
“it’s exciting because
it’s brand new. I like
the sand!”
Evelyn in Year 2 said
“it’s fantastic
because we can play
with water and sand
and we can dress up!”
Beatrice in Year 2
said “I think it’s
great, I like dressing
up.”
Eco Warriors
At East Hoathly, we believe that everyone has a responsibility for not only caring about
the school but also the impact it has on the environment. Every year we have an Eco Group
who are given the responsibility of promoting this message to the children but also making
sure everything possible is done to minimise energy waste, that we recycle everything
possible and that the grounds contain as much
plants and habitat as possible.
The Eco Group consists of two children from
Year1/2, Year 3/4 and Year 5/6. Those
interested will be given an application form.
The two best applications from each class will
be chosen as the Eco Warriors. The children
will have 2 weeks to hand back completed
forms to the office and I will announce the
chosen Eco Warriors after that.

email.

Governors
Juliet Stirrat
I moved to Sussex from London 25 years ago with my young family,
leaving behind a career in the art world and returning to study to
embark on a second career in primary education.
During this time I have also chaired a PTA, been a governor at two
other schools and am currently a trustee of two local charities. I have
been volunteering regularly at St Mary’s for five years and been a
governor there for the last four years, as well as teaching for one term as a temporary
last-minute replacement!
I am looking forward to getting to know the other Pioneer schools and will be particularly
focusing on SEND.
Reception and their Year 6 Buddies
It has been an absolute pleasure this week watching Year 6 guide their Reception buddies
in and around the school.
The Reception children have settled into school life really well and the Year 6 buddies have
gone above and beyond in looking after them.
George in Reception said “I like playing with my buddy, Archie.”
Nursery News
Welcome back everyone! We hope you all had a wonderful Summer break and it is lovely to
see all the children back at Nursery.
This week in Nursery, our learning objectives have been to focus on our speaking and using
different types of everyday words and to begin balancing blocks and counting them.
Our story of the week is ‘Hello Goodbye’. The children have enjoyed making polar bear
pictures using white paint and black card. Also they created big bear paws using glue and
tissue paper.
In Forest School this week, the children did a fantastic job helping to tidy the Nursery
garden. The children used brooms to sweep up the leaves, and used gloves to help sow seeds
and pull up the weeds.
Reminders
We now have some new furniture in Nursery. Inside the cloakroom, you will find pigeon
holes for all of the children. These will be used for the children’s art work and any letters;
please can you ensure you check them at the end of each session.
If all children with packed lunches can now place their lunch boxes underneath their coat
pegs inside the slots provided and water bottles inside the water tray.
Thank you for your continued support,
Nursery Team
