EXPO AS SOLID AS METAL „Success is the result of the right de-
cision” - this is what the ancient play-
wright Euripides used to say. When you
consider the perspective of last-year’s,
21st METAL the organiser’s and exhibi-
tors’ idea to hold the expo in alternating
years has proven to be the right decision.
The whole business-sector admitted, that
2016’s METAL was Central and Eastern
Europe’s largest and most important fo-
undry and casting industry event. 2016’s
exhibition reported a 35-percent incre-
ase in the number of companies and visi-
tors compared to 2014. The trade-show
hosted a large number of heads of com-
panies from home and abroad as well as
production engineers, marketing directors
from Europe’s leading foundry compa-
nies. - Such a comprehensive presenta-
tion of the Polish foundry business would
not have been possible without the help of
our exhibitors as well as substantive sup-
port of our partners, and among them: the
Technical Association of Polish Foundry-
men and the Foundry Research Institute
- says Andrzej Mochoń PhD, Targi Kielce
President of Board. - We are also suppor-
ted by: Foundry Chamber of Commerce in
Krakow, Silesian University of Technology
and the AGH University of Science and
Technology, business-insiders publica-
tions and portals from home and abroad.
We are truly grateful - our joint efforts have
comprehensively enhanced Polish foun-
dry development. It is worth mentioning
that 2016’s METAL Expo hosted repre-
sentations from China, Iraq, Ukraine and
Belarus. Thus the industry gained extra
opportunity to expand business contacts.
Therefore Targi Kielce has become the
bridge between East and West. The Tar-
gi Kielce and the METAL exhibition have
already started preparing for another im-
portant foundry-business event – the
World Foundry Congress in Krakow in au-
tumn 2018. Recently Poland hosted the
Congress 25 years ago. This time ME-
TAL - the foundry technologies expo will
be an integral part of the Congress - says
President Andrzej Mochoń. - Internatio-
nal, world-famous specialists gathered for
Krakow congress will also visit the Kielce
exhibition held at the same time. I would
like to express my gratitude for this oppor-
tunity; I extend my thanks to the Congress
organizers from Poland: STOP chaired by
its President Tadeusz Franaszek and Pro-
fessor Józef Szczepan Suchy - the 73rd
WFC Organizing Committee Chairman.
I wish to use this opportunity and invite
you to join 2018’s METAL special edition.

TAL and ALUMINIUM & NONFERMET,
RECYCLING and CONTROL-TECH
exhibition used over 9,000 square me-
ters of exhibition space. 2016’s ME-
TAL and its accompanying exhibitions
form the expo cluster have proven to
be Central and Eastern Europe’s fo-
undry-business most important event
and the largest exhibition over the re-
cent years. Pressure die casting and
components supply for foundries ge-
nerated the greatest interest. The
expo, in addition to Polish companies
was also the showcase for internatio-
nal firms and organisations from, inter
alia: Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Chi-
na, Czech Republic, Finland, France,
Spain, the Netherlands, India, Cana-
da, Korea, Liechtenstein, Macedonia,
Germany, Norway, Hungary, Slovenia,
Scotland, Sweden, Switzerland, Tur-
key, Ukraine, USA, United Kingdom,
Italy. Foreign companies accounted
for almost 40 percent of exhibitors at
the Kielce foundry expo, entrepreneu-
rs from Germany and Italy enjoyed the
greatest representation. The exhibi-
tors group gathered representatives
of 8 casting houses and foundries, as
well as pressure die casting compa-
nies, raw materials and components
suppliers for the foundries from home
and abroad.
2016’S METAL EXPO THE BIGGEST EXPO OVER THE YEARS!The exhibition space - 50% bigger than at the previous Kielce foundry expo. 25 percent more foundry--sector companies, 35 percent increase in the number of visitors; 21st expo recount is truly optimistic.

Association also partook at the expo opening ceremony.
Mr Wen reminded that Chinese companies have been ex-
hibiting at METAL for 4 years and thus have offered expo
visitors a chance for become familiar with their wide offer.
The Secretary General headed a dozen-person delegation
- the heads of China’s largest companies. Not only did they
make a tour over exhibition and met Andrzej Mochoń PhD.,
Targi Kielce President of Board, but also concluded trade
contracts. China’s foundry market representatives come
to Kielce, and Targi Kielce also visit China in order to pro-
mote METAL expo in China.

Metal & Metallurgy China in Shanghai. METAL also host-
ed numerous delegations from Russia, Ukraine and Bela-
rus - the members expressed their interest in Poland’s and
western Europe’s foundry business and exhibitors’ offers.
The Iraq delegation comprised trading companies’ heads
- they visited the expo and held talks with entrepreneurs
present at the trade-show.
The foreign markets have demonstrated a great interest in METAL expo as well as Poland’s foundry-busi-ness as a whole. Not only has this resulted in the fact the 40% of exhibitors were foreign companies and multinationals. The exhibition hosted foreign delegations - foundry business representations.

I have taken part in METAL since 21st edition. This expo is a benchmark and re-
ference point for Central Europe - said Maurizio Sala.

For years, German foundry compa-
nies have keenly visited METAL expo
and made Kielce trade-show the sta-
ge to boast the latest developments
and achievements. Last METAL was
the showcase for a whole array of fa-
mous German brands. Kielce was
the display for highly-valued compa-
nies, such as: RÖSLER, ALD Vacu-
um Technologies, SANDVIK, MAM-
MUT-WETRO, SCHMELZMETALL,
KURTZ, Maass-Bau, THERMOBIE-

Metal Products, EIRICH, ABP INDUC-
TION SYSTEMS, JÖST, ERVIN GER-
MANY, SCHMOLZ + BICKENBACH,
ZPF Gmbh, GEIGER + Co., MORGAN,
WOLLIN, FIMRO an many other Ger-
man foundry-sector firms.
Italian brands are also a large gro-
up of foreign companies exhibiting in
Kielce: AGRATI, IDRA, NUOVA PRO-
TECME, GMS, HI-TECH Engineering
- ITALPRESSE INDUSTRIE, TREBI DI
BIANCHI NADIA, COPROMEC, FOUN-
DRY ECOCER. There were numerous
representatives from Czech Republic:
CZ-CARBON PRODUCTS, PROMET
CZECH, JAP TRADING, LAC, TECH-
SERVICE CZ as well as from Great
Britain: EUROTEK, INDUCTOTHERM
EUROPE. Austria was represented by
RHI AG, Slovenia by SYKOFIN and
WIRE. Macedonia marked its presen-
ce with ZELEZNIK, India with SNAM
ALLOYS. Denmark was represented
by DISA. Targi Kielce builds bridges
between East and West - companies
from Russia, Ukraine or Belarus find it
easier and cheaper to come to Kielce
(Poland); the nearest neighbouring co-
untry that at the same time is the Eu-
ropean Union Member State. On the
other hand western companies are
keen to exhibit here - the standards
offered by Targi Kielce are not inferior
to those what Western Europe orga-
nisers offer, yet the prices are mode-
rate.

WHAT IS THE GERMAN VIEWON POLISH FOUNDRY MARKET?
Polish foundry business enjoys an
excellent reputation all over the world.
It is considered extremely stable and
recession-resistant. The 2008 and
2009’s crisis has gone unnoticed, this
industry barely suffered. The recent
years’ positive developments in Polish
market are considered another impor-
tant incentive for companies to incre-
ase their presence on the Polish mar-
ket. Last but not least, Polish foundry
market owes its excellent image to its
supreme position in the EU and global
rankings.
Germany is Poland’s most important
and biggest trading partner for found-
ry products and raw materials; this
applies to Polish exports and imports.
According to Eurostat data, in recent
years almost half of commodities Po-
land has imported, were produced by
German companies. According to the
Central Statistical Office of Poland,
German companies supply 50-million
Euros-worth foundry machines to the
Polish market. More than 60% of Ger-
many’s foundry products imported
into Poland are used in the automotive
sector. Construction and engineering
products come next in the ranking
with c.a. 10% share for both sectors.
Aluminium products such as alumin-
ium rims and other aluminium-alloys
as well as grey iron products for sew-
age systems are in demand. This has
been confirmed by Jörg Brotzki, Vice
President of ASK Chemicals Europe.
ASK Chemicals is based in Hilden
(North Rhine-Westphalia)- this is the
supplier of chemicals for the casting
industry. - “Poland produces 1 million
tonnes of casts each year, and there-
fore is one of the 6 most important
foundry-producers in Europe. There-
fore Poland is a very important market
for us. We have observed a steady
growth in Poland’s aluminium busi-
ness-sector; this is the result of the
automotive industry’s growing impor-
tance in our neighbouring country.”
“In recent years we have been able
to strengthen our market position in
Poland’s automotive castings sector.
Our Polish-market forecasts are tru-
ly positive. We are delighted that our
entire team and products boost this
trend.”
Polish foundry market plays an important role for a number of German companies’ strategies, it is also considered stable and crises-resistant. Quality products offered by Polish market also appe-als to Germans clients. Also products imported from Germany are in great demand in many key sectors of the Polish economy.

Poland’s demand for German products
remains high. Polish products are glob-
ally recognized for their high quality and
competitive prices. Polish foundry in-
dustry owes its excellent standing to, in-
ter alia EU subsidies offered in the recent
years. Creation of new enterprises as well
as the sector modernization have been
financed from the EU funds and there-
fore enabled Poland’s production-qual-
ity to come at par with western-coun-
tries’ counterparts. German companies
have also recognized Polish market’s in-
creasing competitiveness . In German,
just like in Poland the foundry industry
is based on medium-sized enterprises
and on sub-suppliers chain. In the recent
years it has profited from end-product
manufacturers’ production-volumes de-
cline. Many German companies have ei-
ther branches in Poland or, alternatively
they are represented in this market. „We
are pleased to have been a part of Pol-
ish market for 15 years. We are involved
in measurement technologies; humidi-
ty control systems and automatic control
systems for loamy sand pre-treatment.”
- says Lothar Knab, president of Sensor
Control Gesellschaft für Sensorik und Au-
tomation mbH from Neuwied.
- Not only is the Polish market in-
teresting because of its proximity; but
also because of a growing understand-
ing of innovative and modern process-
es in the foundry business. “Investments
into future-proof solutions, environ-
ment-sustainable improvements are es-
sential. Many business-insiders have al-
ready understood it”. The Sensor Control
GmbH is a typical medium sized compa-
ny and therefore does not have its own
branch-office in Poland. - „We distribute
our products through our sales represent-
ative - Metimpex LLC based in Krakow.
Typically, the representative initiates con-
tact with our Polish clients. However lat-
er we send our technical support-team to
Poland which significantly contributes to
enhancement of our contacts.” - he adds.
Both ASK Chemicals GmbH and Sensor
Control GmbH have had a many-year
thorough knowledge of the Polish mar-
ket. Both companies have exhibited at
the METAL expo; this is the perfect ex-
ample of the important and appropriate
cross-border cooperation between Po-
land and Germany.

PRESSURE DIE CASTING- THE SECTOR’S LEADER
Idra - the manufactu-
rer of foundry machines
has exhibited at METAL
for more than 10 years.
This time perspective is
long enough in order for
us to assess the orga-
nizers. 2016’s METAL
was a diligently prepa-
red event. The organi-
zer provided assistance
in the expo stand deve-
lopment and equipment.
The expo is enhanced
with an interesting semi-
nars and accompanying
events program. Me-
dia participation in the
event is also worth em-
phasising. The organi-
sers have done a good
job. The every-other year
schedule for METAL is
optimal for the industry.
The 21 METAL was largely dominated by the
die-casting sector. Companies from Germa-
ny, Italy and Switzerland found opportunities to
establish cooperation with new customers and
find new markets. Foundries boasted their high
quality products. There was also a strong rep-
resentation of companies which offer die cast-
ing equipment. The expo was the showcase for
exhibitors, including those from Italy: - AGRATI,
IDRA, NUOVA PROTECME, GMS, HI-TECH en-
gineering SRL, ITALPRESSE INDUSTRIE, TRE-
BI DI BIANCHI NADIA, COPROMEC, FOUNDRY
ECOCER. For the second time, the Kielce expo
included the YIZUMI expo stand. As part of the
“Metal” exhibition, Metals Minerals showcases
its partners’ offer - Elkem, Rio Tinto, Dörentrup
Feuerfest Produkte, Speform in materials. Lo-
ramendi offers fully electric moulding lines. Gen-
eral Kinematics offers an innovative system of
mould striking and cooling Vibro -Drum. Savelli
Technologies, Indefunsa, Stem, AHB, Otto Jun-
ker and others abound with new devices.

ADAM GÓRNYMETALS MINERALS PRESIDENT OF BOARD
We have joined the Kielce Industrial Autumn for the consecutive time - I have de-
liberately emphasized our presence, since MetalsMinerals and Guss-Ex have been
active exhibitors at all expo events - METAL, ALUMINUM NON-FERMET AND RE-
CYCLING and CONTROL-TECH. We have had the opportunity to observe a si-
gnificant increase in the number of visitors, including our long-time clients. After
a few- year break they return to the expo. From the exhibitor’s point of view, first
and foremost it is important to create B2B meetings space, to bring together our to-
day’s and prospective business partners. Judging by the number of business leads
and talk-shop meetings, number of contracts signed and orders we have received at
Kielce Industrial Spring, this expo has been really successful (...).MetalsMinerals offers technical service for its own as well as its partners’ products (ELKEM, Rio Tinto, Nova-Cast, FMA, Loramendi)
MACIEJ DĄBROWSKI BÜHLER POLAND MANAGER - Bühler finds the Kielce Expo one of the most important events in Central and Eastern Europe’s bu-
siness-sector. We have taken part this expo for many years. Last edition, which was first in the eve-
ry-other-year format was excellent in our opinion. The format has altered according to the Polish and
European industry’s expectations. This has been much to the benefit of the exhibitors. In 2016 there
was an increase in the number of companies presenting their foundry-sector targeted offer. We were
also surprised with the significant growth in the number of visitors as well as visitors quality. The expo
abounded with interesting discussions, many specific questions from our customers. Bühler Poland
cannot miss the upcoming exhibition held in 2018 - Metal and Targi Kielce will then host members of
the 73. World Foundry Congress.

COMPONENTS- SUPPLIERS FOR FOUNDRY BUSINESS Polish market of foundry compo-nents grows dynamically. It is visi-ble at the METAL Trade Fair, which grows from one edition to another. Not only does METAL expo bring to-gether foundries and casting ho-uses, but also companies which of-fer raw materials and components for the foundry industry.
2016’s METAL saw the segment of
foundry components expanding its
presence and products assortment.
The offer was mainly put on show by
German, Czech and Italian compa-
nies, they either used their own exhi-
bition stands or the stands of Polish
companies which act in the capaci-
ty of trading partners. The offer on
display included air purification and fil-
tering devices used in casting houses,
heat exchangers, crucibles, thermo-
couples guards, fixtures. Companies
offered separation technologies and
agents, mixing and dispensing devi-
ces for separating agents, chemical
agents such as metal alloys refiners
and modifiers as well as metal-mo-
uld coatings, lubricants and hydrau-
lic fluids.

KRZYSZTOF SUMARA PRESIDENT OF PETROFER - POLAND
- METAL is a Mecca when it comes to this type of events. This is the place to meet
all industry companies. I hope that the next expo will also be as popular as 2016’s -
said Wojciech Plaza - president of Kratos Poland immediately after the expo.
- METAL has been a very successful event, we have had quite a number of visitors at our
expo stand. We try to encourage our customers and the new companies to exhibit at Kiel-
ce METAL. Petrofer Polska offers specialised chemical agents, a wide-portfolio of cooling
and lubricating agents for pressure die casting. This industry has been rapidly growing - this
advancement has been mainly driven by the automotive industry. That is why we cannot miss
Kielce METAL expo.
