Sad news. One of the contestants had taken ill. “Little” Gordon Houston wasn’t present at the challenge, because 

of an unnamed illness. He’s fine, but was not going to be able to continue in the competition. 

Time for the next mystery box challenge. But they were warned to step away from the boxes. The ingredients 

were going to be fresh. Really fresh. Like moving all around the box fresh. The boxes revealed an assortment of 

seafood ranging from crabs to scallops….all kicking and screaming. Well maybe not screaming, but you know. I’m 

sure they were though. The cooks need to cook the best dish they can with the fresh ingredients provided. 

The winner will be in control of the elimination test. 

Mystery box winner, Ahran, could choose what the other cooks would cook – from muffins, cookies and doughnuts. She chose doughnuts. (fox.com) 

 

Top Dishes: Francis B, Ahran, Christian 

Winner of the Challenge: High School student and the youngest cook ever on Masterchef, Ahran Cho. 

The advantage she now has is to choose among muffins, cookies, and doughnuts for the rest of the contestants 

(she doesn’t have to cook). She chooses doughnuts (cause that’s the hardest to cook), and they all have 90 

minutes to make 12 beautiful doughnuts, all to be presented in boxes for the judges. Another advantage for 

Ahran? She could choose one person to save. She saved Francis B who dodged a big bullet. The judges weren’t 

fans of his cooking process. 

 

Best doughnuts: Francis L, Leslie 

Winner: Leslie 

Worst Doughnuts: Kira, Courtney, Cutter 

Eliminated: Kira
