  • Limited Warranty On New Detroit DieselSeries 60® DDEC VI EGR Engines Used In

    On-Highway Vehicle Applications

    Terms of Coverage:UsesThis warranty applies to the first retail purchaser and subsequentowners during the WARRANTY PERIOD of new Detroit DieselSeries 60® DDEC VI EGR Engines (referred to as Engine) manu-factured by Detroit Diesel and/or supplied by Detroit Diesel,or Detroit Diesel of Canada Limited (all which are collec-tively referred to as Detroit Diesel) for use in on-highway vehicleapplications.DefectsThis warranty covers Engine REPAIRS to correct any malfunctionoccurring during the WARRANTY PERIOD resulting from defects inmaterial or workmanship.RepairsTo obtain warranty repairs, you must request the needed repairs with-in the WARRANTY PERIOD from an authorized Detroit Diesel serviceoutlet. Only new genuine parts or remanufactured parts or componentssupplied or approved by Detroit Diesel will be used. Detroit Diesel may,at its discretion, replace rather than repair components. A reasonabletime must be allowed to perform the warranty repair after taking theengine to the authorized service outlet. The owner is responsible for thepercentage of repair costs shown under WARRANTY PERIOD. Repairswill be performed during normal business hours.Warranty PeriodThe WARRANTY PERIOD begins on the date the Engine is delivered tothe first retail purchaser or put in use prior to sale at retail,whichever date occurs first, and ends at the time or mileage/kilometerlimits shown below:

    Aftertreatment Device (ATD) Progressive DamageProgressive damage to the ATD resulting from injector failure beyond200,000 miles / 320 000 kilometers but within 2 years will be coveredby this warranty.

    This Warranty Does Not Cover:Repairs Due To Accidents, Misuse, Storage Damage,Negligence Or Certain ModificationsRepairs due to an accident, misuse, misapplication, storage dam-age, negligence or modification exceeding Detroit Diesel specifica-tions, are not covered by this warranty.

    Braking DevicesDetroit Diesel is not responsible for the repair of non-Jacobs VehicleSystems mechanical braking devices installed on the Engine, suchdevices are warranted by the brake manufacturer.

    Fuel Injectors After 200,000 Miles/320 000 KilometersThe repair or replacement of fuel injectors after 200,000 miles/320 000kilometers of operation is not covered by this warranty.

    MaintenanceDetroit Diesel is not responsible for the cost of maintenance orrepairs due to lack of performance of required maintenance servicesor the failure to use fuel, oil, lubricants and coolant meeting DetroitDiesel-recommended specifications. Performance of required main-tenance and use of proper fuel, oil, lubricants and coolant are theresponsibility of the owner. See the Operator’s Guide for full details.

    Incidental or Consequential DamagesDetroit Diesel is not responsible for incidental or consequential costsor expenses which the owner may incur as a result of a malfunctionor failure covered by this warranty, such as vehicle damage, com-munication expenses, meals, lodging, overtime, loss of use of theEngine or vehicle (“downtime”), loss of time, inconvenience, cargoloss or damage, and other similar costs and expenses.

    Other LimitationsThe performance of REPAIRS is the exclusive Owner’s remedy underthis warranty. Detroit Diesel does not authorize any person to assumeor create for it any other obligation or liability in connection with theEngine or the Accessories.

    THIS LIMITED WARRANTY AND THE EMISSIONS CONTROL WAR-RANTY ARE THE ONLY WARRANTIES APPLICABLE TO THEENGINE AND ACCESSORIES AS USED IN ON-HIGHWAY VEHICLEAPPLICATIONS. DETROIT DIESEL MAKES NO OTHER WAR-RANTIES EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED WAR-RANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULARPURPOSE. DETROIT DIESEL SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANYINCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES AS DESCRIBEDABOVE.Some states do not allow the limitation of how long this warranty maylast or the limitation or exclusion of incidental or consequential dam-ages, so the above may not apply to you. This warranty gives youspecific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which mayvary from state to state.

    Service SuppliesThe cost of service supplies such as coolant, oil and filters which arenot reusable due to needed repairs is covered by this warranty.

    Like Replacement EngineEngine(s) supplied by Detroit Diesel as a replacement for an Enginestill under warranty will assume the identity of the Engine beingreplaced and be entitled to the remaining warranty coverage.

    Engine Removal and ReinstallationReasonable labor costs for engine removal and reinstallation, whennecessary to make a warranty repair, are covered by this warranty.

    TowingDuring the base warranty period reasonable towing costs to the near-est authorized service outlet are covered by the warranty when dueto warrantable failure and the engine is either inoperable, cannot besafely operated or continued operation would cause further damageto the Product.

    Upon expiration of the 24 month warranty coverage, but within 500,000 mi/800 000 km of use, the warranty continues to apply as follows:

    †Cylinder Block/Head, Crankshaft, Camshaft, Main Bearing Bolts, Flywheel Housing,Connecting Rod Assemblies, Oil Cooler Housing, Water Pump Housing and Air Inlet Housing.* Includes Jacobs Vehicle Systems braking devices, 5ODN and T1 alternators, if so equipped.
