MAYOR’S INAUGURAL AND ELECTED OFFICIALS OATHOF OFFICE CEREMONY

LEWISTON - The City of Lewiston announces the Mayoral Inaugural &Elected Officials Oath of Office Ceremony will take place on Monday,January 6, 2014. The evening ceremony will begin at 7:00pm at TheFranco Center (46 Cedar Street, Lewiston) and will be followed by adessert reception at the Center. All members of the public are invited toattend this evening of celebration to acknowledge the newly elected andreturning members of Lewiston City Government. The Inauguration isthe first celebration for the City of Lewiston to mark the new year and isfree and open to all who wish to help participate.

Elected Officials taking their oath of office during the ceremony includeMayor-elect Robert E. Macdonald, members of the City Council and



members of the School Committee. The 2014-2015 City Councilors areLeslie T. Dubois, Ward One; Donald A. D’Auteuil, Ward Two; Nathan L.Libby, Ward Three; Doreen M. Christ, Ward Four; Kristen S. Cloutier,Ward Five; Mark A. Cayer, Ward Six and Michael R. Lachance, WardSeven. The members of the 2014-2015 School Committee are CynthiaM. Mendros, member at-large; Linda M. Scott, Ward One; Paul R. St.Pierre, Ward Two, Trinh Burpee, Ward Three; James R. Handy, WardFour; Jama Mohamed, Ward Five; Matthew P. Roy, Ward Six andThomas P. Shannon, Ward Seven.

During the ceremony, Mayor Macdonald will present his InauguralAddress, highlighting his goals and objectives for the City for the next twoyears. The City Council will be nominating and electing the City Councilpresident for the 2014-2015 term. In addition, the School Committee willbe nominating and electing the School Committee Chairperson for the2014-2015 term.

The evening will begin with the Lewiston High School Jazz Choir singingthe National Anthem to officially open the Inaugural ceremony. Localclergy members will deliver the invocation and benediction for theceremony. The Lewiston Fire and Police Department Honor Guards,along with the Lewiston High School Air Force Junior ROTC students,will conduct the presentation and retirement of the flags. This combinedunit will also serve to officially escort the Mayor-Elect during the entranceprocession of elected officials.

Members of the Lewiston High School Law Enforcement Cadets will serveas ushers and program distributors for the evening. Flowers and plantshave been provided by Dube’s Flower & Gift Shop and Blais Flower &Garden Shop and a videotape production of the ceremony will be createdby Great Falls TV. The Lewiston High School Chamber Choir will



conduct a musical performance during the ceremony.

The dessert reception immediately following the ceremony will be held atThe Franco Center. Catering provided by the Lewiston RegionalTechnical Center Culinary Arts Program students.
