Laptop  Induction  and  Distribution  Evening  for  Year  7  Parents    We  are  pleased  to  invite  you  to  the  Laptop  Induction  and  Distribution  Evening:      

Day   Date   For  Parents  of  Houses   Venue   Time  Wednesday   Sep  28   Kuca,  Maison,  Namas   SPACE  (5th  floor)   5:00  -­‐  6:30  pm  Thursday   Sep  29   Bahay,  Casa,  Shtepi     SPACE  (5th  floor)   5:00  -­‐  6:30  pm    We  do  hope  that  your  children  have  enjoyed  their  initial  few  weeks  at  South  Island  and  are  beginning  to  feel  that  they  are  getting  the  measure  of  the  school.    Research  tells  us  that  one  of  the  most  important  factors  in  learning  is  a  basic  feeling  of  security  from  which  to  orientate  one’s  efforts  –  so  we  believe  it  is  absolutely  crucial  that  your  children  feel  safe  and  looked  after  whenever  they  are  in  our  care.    For  the  Laptop  Induction  and  Distribution  Evening,  we  aim  to  support  parents  and  students  with  the  introduction  to  our   one-­‐to-­‐one   laptop   programme.     Based   on   previous   experience,   we   believe   it   is   important   for   parents   to   have  ownership  of   the   laptops  and  have   full  control  over   their  child’s  use  of   the   laptop.    During  the  session,  we  will  offer  technical  support  as  well  as  tips  on  appropriate  use  of  the  laptop  and  the  technology.        Even  if  you  have  purchased  your  laptop  outside  of  school,  the  information  session  is  still  important  for  you  to  attend.    Please  bring  the  laptop  with  you  on  the  evening.    It  is  important  to  note,  if  you  have  purchased  the  laptop  outside  of  school,  your  child  must  bring  the  laptop  to  the  IT  Department  for  software  installation.    This  installation  will  take  2-­‐3  days  so  please  bring  it  in  as  soon  as  possible.    As  space  is  limited,  we  request  that  only  parents  attend  the  laptop  session.    We  will  have  a  full  induction  in  school  for  students,  as  the  information  for  them  will  be  specific  to  the  use  of  the  laptop  in  lessons.    We   look   forward   to   meeting   you   and   ask   that,   to   help   us   in   our   planning,   please   confirm   your   attendance   by  completing  the  following  Google  form  by  no  later  than  Friday  23rd  September.    For  Kuca,  Maison  and  Namas  (28th  September):  https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSchRWpTl3RoZvqXtnbjCMa2zO-­‐ITEtQCtmn3vQEAie9FUMiFw/viewform      For  Bahay,  Casa  and  Shtepi  (29th  September):  https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe-­‐16pE6nDwc9AMkZVLN6rhRRX_FBlVhMQlplfZowVyvBNB0g/viewform      Yours  truly,
