Introduction to Parents & Teachers
This book was intended as a learning aid for students studying Latin with the Latin for Children Primer A textbook. It follows that textbook chapter for chapter. Thus, the words learned in chapter 3 of the
textbook correlate to those in chapter 3 of this activity book (but, as review, activities might also contain words and concepts learned from previous chapters).
Not all puzzles will appeal to all students. Feel free to have students do all the puzzles, attempt a challenging puzzle only to return to it later, or, with your permission, skip some entirely. Our goal is not to stump the students with impossible puzzles but rather, with a reasonable sense of challenge, have students continue practicing their Latin in a setting of fun, games, and playfulness.
A few ideas . . .
• Have students use highlighters for the word search puzzles. This will help minimize the muddle of circles.
• Have students use colored pencils on the matching games to delineate one line from another.
• Encourage students to work together (when possible) on some of the more challenging puzzles.
• Have students create their own puzzles and games.
NOTE: This section is NOT
intended to exclude students,
small dogs, or pet goldfish (ex-
cept those fish named Fred). It’s
merely that it contains some of
the boring “grown-up” stuff
that you might find on a fed-
eral tax form or in the lower
left column on page 14 of your
stereo instructions.
NOTE:Unless otherwise
specified, all nouns featured in the puzzles
will be singular and nominative (the first
form listed in the LFC Primer vocabulary
lists). Unless otherwise specified,
adjectives featured in these puzzles will be masculine, singular, nominative (the first
form listed in the LFC Primer vocabulary
lists).

Enter the Maze . . . There are three Latin words stuck in the maze. You need to go in there (if you dare) and find exactly which three words are on the pathway to the exit. Find those words and only those words, then enter them in the space pro-vided at the bottom of the page. You might want to use a pencil until you find the correct path . . .
