The Larkspur & Hawk fine jewelry collection is the

creation of Emily Satloff. Founder and designer, she is a former curator

at The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the New-York Historical Society. After

becoming a noted antique jewelry dealer, she realized her dream of creating a

contemporary collection inspired by the Georgian era that uses the lost, colored foil

technique that was first popularized in the 18th century. Emily has resurrected this

technique to create a unique look that is both historical and modern for her clientele

today. Spanning a beautiful range of painted foil colors, the jewelry is delicately

hand-crafted from precious metals and gemstones.

radiate from each piece, creating a signature, halo effect,

Larkspur & Hawk founder and designer, Emily Satloff,

ventured to the enchanting island of Corsica, France to find

inspiration for her new Tessa collection. She was so fascinated by

the color of the water, she had her husband taking close-up photos of its hues, so

she would not forget the illuminating intensity that she wished to capture in this

collection. It was while there that she became enamored of the colorful landscape,

scenery, and magical sunsets and was able to imagine the resulting collection. “When

I close my eyes and imagine this view, I see a jewel-like arrangement of brilliant

blue water highlighted by the unique, coral clay roofs of the old town of Calvi

where we stayed,” said Emily. This collection features elliptical topaz stones with

gradations of color that capture the nuances of the changing light and colors witnessed

throughout her days in Corsica. In addition to the blue hues, coral, blush, and peach

have been used to evoke the colors of the Calvi architecture and rocky coastline.

The Iberian Peninsula is the inspiration for Larkspur

& Hawk’s new Bella collection. An exciting jewelry

evolution blossomed between the 16th-18th centuries in

Portugal and Spain which allowed jewelry to be more

decorative, fantastical, and whimsical.

The new Bella collection is a nod to the past and is almost celestial, bursting with

light and color. Of particular note is the growing interest in 18th century astronomy,

and the much-anticipated return of Halley’s Comet in 1758, which spawned comet-

inspired jewelry.

Pearls, also popular during this period, make an appearance for the first time at

Larkspur & Hawk, juxtaposing the grey pearls' opaque lustre with the fiery sparkle

of foiled gemstones. The Bella Collection is rich in jewel colors and features a new

pinched bezel setting that provides a simple frame to highlight the sparkle of rose-

cut stones. This was a popular bezel, but the silhouettes are not reproductions of

18th century Iberian models. Rather, they represent the spirit of the period and the

celebration of the art of jewelry design.

Larkspur & Hawk's first bridal collection debuts this year.

It will include an exclusive textured foil color palette including: chambray (blue),

sancerre (gold), fawn (copper), and frost (white). A shield-shaped charm has also

been designed to hang delicately from the clasp of the rivières and bracelets, as a

feature on which the bride can engrave a special sentiment such as the wedding date

or the couple’s initials, thereby establishing their own family crest. Hair ornaments

and cufflinks will also complete this collection. A bride can now create her own

unique wedding parure!
