Stan Farquharson who is having his first year as treasurer with North is doing a really good job for the "blues". Stan has a long family association with North. His father Eric being a· former secretary, an,d uncle Allan being a former player and committeeman.
Comp. conducted by Maitland 2/7/60 was won by Mrs. E. Hoffman,_ Beresfield ticket No. 4079.
Despite the lack of size, Waratah hooker M. "Zonka" Kelly continues to shine when the going gets tough. Nearly always able to get his share of the ball from the scrums, Zonka could well be called "The Little Dictator."
Alec Perkins, South 5/8 played an excellent game last week. He reproduced the form that made. him one of the district's top liner:s:
"Bud" Ridley, Kurri's young third grade winger was very unfortunate when he sust::i,ined a fractured jaw a fortnight 'ago. It was an accidental injury and it is bad luck for this young player in his first season· in grad footoall.
Darrell Anderson of North is continuing to improve and he fully deserved all the praise he earned for last week's game. Darrell should represent next ·year.
It was pleasing to see Russ Faulds return to the Cessnock third grade team against Torento. Russ nas found it hard to train this season and now he has made the side he could be se·lected for reserve grade before the st:ason is over.
Johnnie Parkinson from Norths thirds is playing good consistent football. His switch of pla.y last week which brought a fine try belng excellent.
•
Aiways there to see Waratah tul·ned ·out spic and span, is popuiar jersey steward "Big Jim" Baldock. Besides being a top man i his job Jim would be the best chewing gum eater in the land.
Greg Murrell showed a fine turn of speed when he sco:·ed a runaway try which virtually won the match in the third grade game against La:'kes last Saturday. Kurri and Lakes were equal e,n fourth place but after Kurri's 8-4 victory last week this team is now !eading by 2 points over Lakes forthe fourth position.
All in W·ests camp are wishing Graham Sutcliffe a speedy recovery from his broken wrist, received against Waratah last week. Although on the bright side, Ern Snelson, Terry Knight and 'Big Joe' Cordner resume in the teams today affli all wish them a. top form game.
