In this month’s letter I would like to offer you an excerpt from a soon to bereleased book by Apostle Brandon Bailey titled: “Epistles To The 21ST CenturyChurch”.Fromthe late1990s to thepresentdayChurch in2017, thewritingsabout theApostolicprimarilyfocusedonApostlesandtheapostolicministryanddefiningthe season that modern day bible scholars labelled The New ApostolicReformation. This term captured that wave and spread globally as it focusedprimarilyontherestorationofApostlesandProphetstotheChurch.AswithanynewseasonthereistheemergenceofnewwriterswhoarticulatetheheartandmindofGodinthatparticularseason.Thesewritingsarenecessaryfortheestablishmentofacorporateidentityofthisnewwave.There have been and are many arguments debating the legitimacy andillegitimacy of the 21st Century Apostles and their functions, but we can restassuredthattheChurchwillnotexistwithoutApostlesandapostolicministryinthenearandevendistant future.Apostles are restored to theChurchand theyareheretostay.WiththissaidIampersonallyconvincedthatwehaveenteredadifferentseasonas far as Apostles and the apostolic ministry is concerned and we must givemeaningandexpressiontothetransitionalnatureofapostolicministry.GoddoesnotchangethegiftsHegivestoHisChurchbutHeallowsthosegiftstoevolvetoanotherlevelineveryseasonofthelifeoftheChurch.Itisthereforecriticalforusto understand that the Church of Jesus in the earth is in a continued state ofgrowthandevolution.TheChurchthatwasbornintheBookofActscontinuestoevolveintoallthattheFather desires Her to become. There has been and continues to be more andmorerevelationofGodbeingexpressedthroughtheChurch.ForexampleinthepastwehavegonefromtheTabernacletotheTempletotheChurch,theBodyofBelieversinthepresentday.WehavemovedfromtheLawtoGrace,wemovedfromJudgestoProphetsandKings,fromtheFirstManAdamtoTheLastAdamintheLordJesus.Inthesameveinwiththeapostolicweareinaseasonofenhancementandthisqualitywillsteerus tobirth thepurposesofGodaccurately in theearth in thishour.Thereareseveralexpressionsoftheapostolicintheearththatwehavetorevisit andperhaps redefine tomove theChurchof Jesus forward in thishour.Failure to address this will sabotage the Church and completely stifle amomentumtheSpiritofGodwantstoreleasetotheChurchinthishour.Emerging Apostles quite often end up following the status quo due to generalassumptions about the apostolic calling, which can short-circuit their own

ministryofficeandcalling.Wehavetoaddressthisgenericapproachtoapostolicministryandbringtoitgreaterfunctionality.Thereareseveralassumptionswehave to fix in the 21st Century apostolicministry is to be progressive and everevolving.Beforeweaddresstheseassumptions, letusbrieflyconsiderwhattheApostlesfromthelate1990suptotheearly2000swereonpointabout.CreationofanOperationalFrameworkThroughWritingMenlikeNoelWoodroffe,JohnEckhardt,KelleyVarner,PeterWagner, JonathanDavid,Michael Scantlebury, Rick Joyner, Tim Early and a host of others in theearly days of the Apostolic Wave spend a considerable time writing anddevelopingresources.InanywavewithinChristianity,whenitisnotaddressedthroughsoundwritingand doctrine, an ungodly freedom that leads to spiritual anarchy is released.These men addressed just what the meaning of “Apostle” is, defined what anapostolic church is and how it is built and structured apostolically has beenclarified.Theimportanceofapostolicdoctrineswascementedasinthepast,theschoolboyerrorcouldbemade in thatwewouldexperience thegloryand faildismally tocapture it in writing. The apostolic ministry is defined by having resourcesavailable.Havingresourcesavailablerequiresstrongwriting.Thefoundingfathersoftheapostolicwaveofthe20thCenturyhelpedthemovegreatlythroughtheirwritings.Documentingthewaveofgloryhasestablishedamomentum,whichpreservestheseasoninwhichithappened.InthiswaythereisarecordofthesevariousmovesofGodthattheseriousBiblestudentcanreadandtrackthiscontinuousgrowth.TheearlyApostleswrote,assomehowtheyknewtheirwritingswouldpreservethat season in God and bring significant understanding to generations not yetborn. The Church today is blessedwith an operational framework on somanylevelsbecausethosewhowerethereinthebeginningarticulatedtheseasonwiththepen.GatheringGraceTheseApostles also carriedwith thema gathering grace. Countlessmaterial incirculation in the formof articles andbooksexistwhichhistorically record themany gatherings in the form of conferences and rallies to dialogue, teach andpreachaboutaparticularmoveofGod.Significantmovesof theHolySpiritaretypifiedbygatherings.Awaveisneversomeisolatedexperiencethatonlyafewhave access to; it always evolves from small gatherings into significant andmeaningful gatherings. The Apostles of the 90s had a grace to gather people.Thesegatheringsfocusedonteaching,intercessionandworship.TheseApostlesfocusedstronglyongatheringtheSaintsforthesolepurposeofimpartationandactivation.RelationalDynamicsOfTheApostolicIt is of great interest to note thatmost of the Apostles of the 1990swho gavebirth to the New Apostolic Reformation crossed paths at some level at somepointinthisjourney.OneofthewaysthatGodmovesalocalwaveontoaglobalstage is to connect those hearing the same frequency and receiving the samedownloadatsomelevel.ItisthroughthismethodthatGodbeginstomovelocalmoves into onemore composite global expression. In the apostolic wave God teaches us humilitythroughthecollective.Otherwiseonecangoroguewithouttheseparameters.Fast forward to the year 2017 and let us consider some of the mistakes wecontinue tomake in the apostolic. Let us consider two trendingmistakes 21STCenturyApostlesmake:EntranceIntoTheApostolicMeansANewTitleOne of the mistakes I am observing in the 21ST Century Church is that manyministers of the gospel who transition into apostolic doctrines automaticallybecome Apostles. Faithful servants of God who for several years operated asEvangelist or Pastors by default now call themselves “Apostles” because theymigrated to the apostolic way. This approach has blurred the lines of fivefoldministry and sadly is causing thevalueof the apostolic call todepreciate at analarmingrate.Teaching theupcominggeneration is imperative thatonecanbeapostolicwithoutbeingApostles.Biblicallyallfivefoldministryflowedfromanapostolicthrustbutnotall-fivefoldMinisters were necessarily perceived and received as Apostles.When the titleApostle is seen as a step up inministrywe open the door for individualswhosufferfromaninferioritycomplextofixtheirinferioritywithanewlabel.Sadlymany“Apostles”todayare individualswhohavefaileddismally inministryandare looking for a way to re-establish themselves in ministry. This is not ageneralisation bit simply an observation. It is possible to continue in thedoctrinesoftheApostleswithoutcallingyourselfanApostle.Wemustdispensewith graduating people intoApostleship,who simply are seeking another title.TheconferringofthetitleofApostleisadivinecallingthatcomesdirectlyfromthegracethatGoddispensestowhosoeverHewantsto.ShouldApostlesHaveNetworks?OneofthemythswehavetodealwithisthepopularbeliefthatallApostlesmusthave networks. Networks are not a necessity and are not the pinnacle ofApostleship. In a South African context there is a new network established atleast once a month. Sadly some of these networks have no basis for theirexistence and are just a repeat of something that already exists. Am I againstnetworks?No,absolutelynot.Networkshavetheirplaceandbringmeaningtosomany individuals andministries. The danger however of the ongoing trend ofestablishingnetworks is thatwe think it isasignofApostleship.Wheneverweareuncertainofthecallwearewalkingin,weestablishsystemsthatcanhelptoquellouruncertainty.TheApostleiscalledbyGodandthatistheprimaryreasonwhyanyApostlemuststandintheapostolicoffice.The21stCenturyApostlemustgrowbeyondtheneedforstatureandimportance.Thiswillfreeusfromtheneedto establish meaningless networks. It is possible to access the Saints as aresourcewithoutmakingthempartofanetwork,asktheearlyApostles.With that said there are certain enhancements we have to bring to apostolicministryinthe21stCenturythatwillhelpusasApostlestobringtheSaintstoa

As I took this book to read, my greatestsurprise is that someone else out there isalsowritingaboutnations.Unfortunatelyinthe church tradition we have today, thegospel of salvation has taken over. Weemphasizemainlythebenefitofthegospelto the individual believer, for-getting thatGod’spassionisfornations.So what Brandon has done, is absolutelyrevolutionary. For a young man to havethis kind of understanding and grasp, nodoubtthehandofGodisuponhim.Frankly speaking as I am going throughthis book, I am almost thinking I amreading my own writing. Thereareseveralenhancementsneededfortheapostolicministryintheearth.ResourcingWithoutConferencesThe apostolic today in most parts of the earth is defined by the gathering ofconferences. Conferences is a 80s phenomenal established by the CharismaticMovement around the world. There is absolutely nothing wrong withconferences, but in an ever-evolvingworldwe have to find away to resourcepeoplebeyondthemodusoperandiofstagingconferences.The 21st Century Apostle must ask himself how can we resource the Churchglobally without gathering them annually at one central place? This can beachieved when Apostles shift from preaching mode to writing mode. The onetraitthatwasconsistentwithalmost70%oftheFirstCenturyApostleswastheirwriting pedigree. I am in no way pre-empting that we abolish the concept ofconferencesinanyway,shapeorform,butwhatIamsuggestingisthatApostlestodaystartdedicating themselves towriting.Weare living inanerawhere theworld is changing. Travelling from one nation to the other is becomingincreasinglycomplicated.Thereisadesperatecryinthenationsforhelpandwehavetofindawaytoreachpeoplesoonerandperhapsinaneasierway.Withconferencingaselectfewcanaffordtotravelandcovertheirexpenses.Whywouldwe penalise peoplewhen they do not have themeans to get there.Wemustwriteoneveryavailableplatformprovided.Wehavesocialmediaplatformsand we have other technological advances that help us to reach peopleimmediatelyandoutsideofthenorm.Inadditiontowriting,wemustcapitalizeonthetechnologyatourdisposalandcapitalize on it with real-time, face-to-face conversation with people who areseeking,andwhoarelocatedanywhereintheworld.HowareweutilisingtheseplatformsasApostlesinthe21stCenturyChurch?Howcanwecreateaccessforpeople 24/7 to find the resources God has placed in us and to be empoweredwiththecurrentspeakingofGod?Wemustfindbetterandmoremodernwaystogather resources for the Saints without gathering them at one central placeannually.Case in point—the underground church in China is perhaps the largest andstrongest globally and yet they havemanaged to build such a significantworkwithoutthefreedomweenjoyinthefreeworld.Ourapostolicapproachmustfitthetimeswearelivingin.Achangingworlddemandsanewapproach.Canwedoitdifferently?
