the people of Moreh are readyfor the visible future prospectsas a result of these governmentinitiatives?Keeping all thesedevelopments in view, theMoreh Battalion Assam Riflesunder the aegis of IGAR Southhas taken a unique initiative ofSkilling the youth of Morehthrough Pradhan MantriKaushal Vikas Yojna (PMKYJ),enable them to be ready to reapthe benefits of governmentpolicies and bring legitimacy infunctioning of Moreh Town. Itall started in a systematic mannerwith Assam Rifles carrying outliaison with National SkillDevelopment Corporation(NSDC) the implementingagency of PMKYJ, carrying outlaision with all the CSOs ofMoreh to motivate youth toparticipate, identifying the jobroles to be offered to the youthas also the training providers,organising the Mega SkillDevelopment. Drive forcounselling followed byselection of youth in various jobroles, providing infrastructurefor smooth commencement ofSkill Development training andfinally commencement oftraining. The mega SkillDevelopment Drive conductedon 02 April was attended by 370young boys and girls of Morehtown and adjoining areas. TheSkill Development Centre wasinaugurated on 30 May withtraining commencing with effectfrom 01 June 2019. Keeping the

priorities of key sectors, skilltraining of key job rolescommenced are so far FieldTechnician ComputerProgramme, Beautician, RetailSale Associate and Tailoring.There are other courses inpipeline which include Tourismand Hospitality, Food andBeverages, House KeepingAttendant which are likely tocommence in the near future. Thealready commenced training hasinvited huge response from theyouth of Moreh and they haveshown immense enthusiasm tocontinue honing their skillsthrough structured training.The sincere efforts of AssamRifles to encourage the youth intheir future building areappreciated by variousorganisation of Moreh. Thepresident of Meetei CouncilMoreh (MCM) applaudedMoreh Battalion for generatingopportunities for youth andshaping up there future.Wherein another socialorganisation of Moreh, HillTribal Council (HTC) expressedthere gratitude towards AssamRifles. The president HTC,Moreh praised MorehBattalion for taking the uniqueinitiative of skilling the youthof the border village of Morehthrough Regular Skilldevelopment classes. Theoverwhelming enthusiasm ofthe local population hasresulted n establishment of twomore skill development centres

at Pallel&Chandel for whichregistration is in progress.There are approximately 2000youth within the age group of16 to 25 in Moreh. The aim ofthe skill development is toprovide training to 400 youthby end of this year and 800 byJun next year with an overallaim of skilling 1000 youth eachyear while achieving this targetdemands willing cooperationfrom all stake holders butsuffice to say that by June 2021the entire population of Morehwould have achieved desiredskill for a gainful employmentproposition. This initiative byAssam Rifles will go a long wayin providing opportunity forSkilling the youth in multiplejob roles in order to ensure thatthere is simultaneous overalldevelopment to include theinfrastructure developmentthrough ambitious Governmentschemes as also developmentof the youth to enable them tobe availab le as sk illedmanpower at the point ofimplementation. It will alsoprovide bouquet ofopportunities to theunemployed youth so as to begainfully employed and act asmeaningful contributor to thenational development. Theywill not only be able to gainemployment but will also beable to prevent themselvesfrom the menace of drug abuseand getting influenced by AntiNational Elements.
