we are the best in rendering this servicewhen it comes to cleaning up dirt,” saidIkeleng Motlopi, shareholder and one of thefounder members of The Dirt Friend. The business has grown rapidly over the
past few years.“We started with only five employees in
2010. Today we employ 17 people and havetwo laundry facilities – one in Postmasburgand one at the Kolomela Mine. Throughthese two facilities we service both the mineand households in town. We secured acontract with the mine until 2016,” Motlopi
said.“Kolomela reached out to us right from
the beginning. They helped us to start thebusiness and provided us with training tobe able to render proper services. They alsosupplied us with machinery and materials.”The staff complement of 17 comprises 14
general workers and three shareholders –Ikeleng Motlopi, Magrieta Adams andPriscilla Ditsebe.Motlopi was a receptionist and ran a
catering business before starting The DirtFriend.Adams was the owner of a hairdressing

it is one of the most challenging journeysever. We are happy with the progress madesince having started the business. We areon a journey of growth,” the three womensaid.“Knowing our own skills and wanting to
eliminate unemployment, we saw a gap inthe market. We did research and realisedthat there is a need for a laundry service. This is how The Dirt Friend started. Ourvision is to grow the business, to getcontracts from other mines and to grow thelaundry in town,” Motlopi concluded.

So tussenin drink ek ’n koppie
tee (julle weet mos, behalwe virkoek is ek mos verslaaf aan tee).Soos wat ek kos maak, so worddie potte en ander goeterssommer dadelik gewas. Wat klaaris, is klaar.
O, moenie vergeet nie. Ek isook al by die tweede bondelwasgoed. Skoon linne beteken ookskoon handdoeke. My oë krap, my neus is toe, my
ore wil-wil begin pyn.
Grootste fout ooit. So hop ek
Ek raakbaie vies as ek haar sien, want sylaat alles so maklik lyk.Daarna verskyn Sida van
Kaapstad.Sy maak ontbyt. Ek het nog nie
eens ontbyt gehad nie. Heeltemalvergeet daarvan!Hulle maak my so lus vir kook
Kyk iets anders as die FoodChannel.
Uiteindelik.

Met my hande inmy sye kyk ek na my kamer –jip, alles lyk mooi.

onvoorspelbaarder as rugby.Die Suid-Afrikaanse spanne van

1 KOR. 13:12: . . . soos God my ten volle ken.
In Sy hande is jy veilig.

Neels Loots
Neels Loots is a qualifiedparamedic in Kathu whooffers general advice onmedical emergencies.BURN injuries can occur in and
around the home, and can happento anyone.Burns can be classified in three
categories namely thermal or heatburns, chemical burns andelectrical burns.) Thermal burns can be causedby flames, contact with hotobjects, flammable vapours thatignite or hot liquid.) Chemical burns are caused bychemical agents that can causetissue damage and death if theycome into contact with the skin. There are three types of chemicalsthat cause burns: acids, alkalisand organic compounds.) Electrical burns. The severity ofinjury from contact with electricalcurrent depends on the type ofcurrent (direct or alternating), thevoltage, the area of the bodyexposed and the duration ofcontact.Normally burns are described as
first-degree, second-degree, andthird-degree injuries. Medical careprofessionals use the termssuperficial, partial thickness andfull thickness because they aremore descriptive of the extend oftissue damage.First-degree (superficial) burns
affect the skin’s outer layer(epidermis). Characteristicsinclude redness, mild swelling, tenderness and pain. Sunburn is acommon example of a first-degreeburn.Second-degree (partial thickness)
burns extend through the skin’sentire outer layer and into the
inner layer. Characteristicsinclude blisters, swelling, weepingof fluids and intense pain. Intactblisters provide a sterile, water-proofing covering. Once a blisterbreaks, a weeping wound resultsand the risk of infection increa-ses.Third degree (full thickness)
burns are severe burns thatpenetrate all the skin layers andthe underlying fat and muscle. The skin looks leathery, waxy orpearly gray and sometimescharred.Care for burnsBurn care aims to reduce pain,
protect against infection anddetermine the need for medicalcare. Most burns are minor andcan be managed without medicalcare. If a patient’s clothing is bur-
ning, have the victim roll on theground using the “stop, drop androll” method. Smother the flameswith a blanket or douse the victimwith water.) Care for first-degree burns:Cool the burn wound down with
water until the part is pain free(this often takes about ten
minutes). After the burn has cooled down,
apply an aloe vera gel or skinmoisturiser to keep the skinmoistened and to reduce itchingand peeling.) Care for small second-degreeburns:Cool the burn with cool water
until the part is pain free. Notethat the burn should not be cooleddown with ice water. After the burn has been cooled,
apply antibiotic ointment. Do notapply lotions or aloe vera cream.Cover the burn loosely with a
dry, non-stick, sterile or cleandressing. Do not break anyblisters.Seek medical care immediatly.
) Care for large second-degreeand all third-degree burns:Remove clothing and jewelry
that are not stuck to the burntarea. Cover the burn loosely with
a dry, non-stick, sterile or cleandressing.Seek immediate medical care.
) Care for chemical burns:Immediately rinse the burn area
with a large quantity of water forapproximately two minutes. If thechemical is a dry powder, brushthe powder from the skin beforerinsing with water.Remove the victim’s contamina-
ted clothing and jewelry.Cover the affected area with a
dry, sterile or clean dressing.Seek immediate medical
assistance.) Care for electrical burns:Ensure the area is safe. Unplug,
disconnect or turn off the power. If that is impossible, call 053-723-1626 or 112 from a cell phone.Check responsiveness from the
patient and breathing.Provide CPR if necessary.

soveelste keer ’n waterpyp voor my woningwat na ’n brandkraan vloei, kom herstel.
Elke dag wordliters skoon water gemors.
