„W świecie materii rzeczy mają się tak, że każde ciało kryje w sobie zarazem i życie i śmierć; wszystko jest jednocześnie lekarstwem i trucizną, toksykologia i
farmakologia są jednym i tym samym, bo trucizna ma własności lecznicze, a to co uchodzi za życiodajne,
zabija w pewnych warunkach.”

CONCLUSIONS
•There appears to be no limit to the number of pathological conditions in which elevated ODD has been reported. Of course, the mere presence of damage is not proof of a causative link, although, given the close link between ROS formation and oxidative DNA damage and the importance of DNA damage and mutation in carcinogenesis, it is not a large leap of intuition to link oxidative DNA lesions and cancer.
•The involvement of ODD in the pathogenesis of other diseases remains elusive.

• In one of the key paper of the field published in recent issue of Nature it has been
stated; “LC/MS constitutes a gold standard in global quantification of 5hmC butrequires
extensive expirience in LC/MS methods” [Branco, M. R., Ficz, G., and Reik, W., Uncovering the role
of 5-hydroxymethylcytosine in the epigenome, Nat.Rev.Genet. 13 (2012) 7-13].
