Meeting a Need
• The Need: Out of every 100 students who enter grade school in the Philippines
63 finish elementary school
33 finish high school
3 graduate from college

• The Goal: To increase that last statistic and in so doing:– Decrease the gap between rich and poor in the Philippines– Develop more fully our human capital assets

What is JCAP?
• Jayme-Card-Ayala-
Pathways: A program to sponsor the college tuition and expenses of students who graduate from a Philippine public high school in the top 10% of their class
• JCAP Scholars can attend any Philippine college of their choice that accepts them using standard admission procedures

The JCAP Partnership
• Ayala Foundation: Steward of the monies raised, lending integrity, transparency, and credibility to the effort
• Ayala Family of Companies: Will provide summer internships between junior and senior college years

• Selects and mentors scholars from high school through college

Progress Report
• JCAP’s Founding 8 Months ago– JCAP was founded in
January of this year at a ceremony at the Ayala Foundation, Manila
• JCAP’s First Batch of Scholars:– The following June
2006 nine JCAP scholars started college in Metro Manila, Baguio, and Cotabato

• The Ayala Foundation and GiL@S– committed to bettering the infrastructure of
Philippine public high schools via Internet access
• The Ayala Foundation and JCAP– seek to offer college opportunities to the
brightest of these Philippine public high school graduates who might otherwise not be able to get a college education

More Synergy: A Dream
• That someday a Gawad Kalinga resident who avails himself or herself of Internet capabilities in his or her Philippine public high school funded by GiL@S will receive a JCAP college scholarship, graduate college with honors from a top Philippine college, and go on to become a great national leader

• $5,000 or PhP 250,000 will sponsor one scholar for his or her entire college career

(check payable to Ayala Foundation)– Tax-deductible acknowledgement letter from
Ayala Foundation USA within one week
