In an effort to improve our communication with parents we
have a very brief survey we would like you to fill out.
Teachers should have handed you the half sheet of paper for you to answer some very brief
questions.
We will repeat this survey in the spring!
Thank you for attending our school this evening!

A Little About Me…• I went through Batavia Public Schools.• I received my Bachelor’s Degree in
Elementary Education with a middle school endorsement from Western Illinois University.
• I received a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University.
• Over my eight years of teaching, I have taught 4th grade, 1st grade, K-5 Spanish, Elementary ELL, and now 5th grade.
![Page 28: JB Nelson Curriculum Night](https://reader036.vdocuments.mx/reader036/viewer/2022081511/56816522550346895dd7a372/html5/thumbnails/28.jpg)
Homework and Assignments
• Should be recorded daily in assignment notebooks
• 45 minutes or less to complete.
• If there is a situation at home that would prevent your child from completing an assignment(s) for the evening:– a note (or email) is required by the parent or
guardian – turned in instead of the assignment– will allow your child to ask for additional help if
needed, and/or turn in the assignment the next day without penalty (late slip).
![Page 29: JB Nelson Curriculum Night](https://reader036.vdocuments.mx/reader036/viewer/2022081511/56816522550346895dd7a372/html5/thumbnails/29.jpg)
Homework and Assignments cont.
• Late assignment = Late slip – This is to be signed by a parent or guardian and
turned in with the assignment the next school day. I’ll keep the carbon copy so I can be sure to check in with your child the next day
– Three in a trimester is a pattern of concern. A parent contact will be made.
– Six in a trimester means we didn’t solve the issue the first time. A parent, teacher, student conference will be set up.
![Page 30: JB Nelson Curriculum Night](https://reader036.vdocuments.mx/reader036/viewer/2022081511/56816522550346895dd7a372/html5/thumbnails/30.jpg)
