It gives us immense pleasure to share that Anantapur corporation has successfully organized 4th phase of
Janmabhoomi Mavooru Programme in all the 50 wards of the ULB. The program witnessed large
participation from all sections of the society.
As we have stated earlier, Anantapur is one among the five Smart Cities declared under State
cabinet. It is very happy to state that preliminary work has been started under the programme and a
team from APUIAML which is the consultant for state declared smart cities has visited Anantapur for
reconnaissance survey and has organised meeting in Vijayawada to throw a light on process of smart city
development.
The Smart Pulse Survey launched on July 8th across Andhra Pradesh with an objective to
ascertain the socio-economic status of people is being carried efficiently in the ULB with over 136
enumerators working on it.

As a step towards state government’s commitment
to align its development and welfare agenda to the
Sustainable development goals framework for
global benchmarking, 4th phase of Janmabhoomi
Ma vooru programme has been carried from 2nd to
11th Jan 2017 all over AP. Accordingly, AMC
organised the programme in all the 50 wards of the
ULB. Samaja Vikasam, Kutumba Vikasam, Digital
Financial Literacy for cashless transactions,
fostering happiness and innovation through literacy
and cultural programmes and asset distribution and
award presentation are the thrust areas identified
for the campaign.
Referring to the Janmabhoomi village meetings in
the ULB, Hon’ble MLA Prabhakar Chowdhary garu
directed officials to make sure of huge attendance
to the meetings in all the wards of the city. During
the 10-day long programme, white ration cards
were distributed to poor eligible people.

Meeting on Smart cities was conducted on January 24 2016 at State cabinet Vijayawada.
Deligates such as Mayors and Commissioners of Vijayawada, Guntur and Anantapur ULBs and
Swachh Bharath Managing director Murilidharan and few other concerned officials has attended
the meeting. The APUIAML team has explained the process of development of smart cities by
providing examples of Udaypur and Bubhaneshwar. In this regard, Hon’ble Mayor M. Swaroopa
and Commissioner E. Surendrababu has stated that state government will assign 33 crores of
financial assistance for developing Anantapur as a smart city and center on its part will allocate
much more fund than the state . Mayor has also stated that the fund will be utilized for
establishing shopping malls, Construction of Underground drainage in the City, provision of safe
drinking water and Augmentation of green spaces.
Smart pulse survey
The Smart Pulse Survey launched on July 8th across the state with an objective to ascertain the
socio-economic status of people, is being carrying effectively in the ULB.As many as 109
enumerators were conducting survey covering all 50 wards in the town. 74.70% of the
households have been surveyed in the Anantapur Municipal Corporation by the end of January
2016.

The Sankranti Sambaralu, an annual cultural fete organised by Anantapur Municipal Corporation
were held at police parade grounds. A variety of cultural competitions such as rangoli, cooking
and dance competitions held during the event ushered in festive spirit.
National Voters Day
The National Voters’ Day is celebrated every year to
mark the foundation day of the Election Commission
of India, which was established on 25th January,
1950. The purpose of celebrating this day is to
increase enrolment of voters, especially young
voters. The day is also utilized to spread awareness
among voters regarding effective participation in
the electoral process.
7th National Voters’ Day has been celebrated on 25th January 2017 by Anantapur Municipal
Corporation. The theme was ‘Empowering Young and Future Voters. The event was successfully
organized and witnessed enthusiastic participation of college students.

Technical Expert Committee review meeting on Storm water drain DPR (SAAP 2016-20) has been
held on 9th January 2017. TCE team and technical expert committee members has attended the
meeting. Discussions were held in SE(PH)
office followed by site visit. DPR has been
prepared for 6.5km of Maruvanka drain
and the technical expert committee has
suggested few changes to be made to the
draft DPR.
The Anantapur Municipal Corporation celebrated 68th Republic Day with great enthusiasm on
Jan.26,2017.
Commissioner E. Surendra Babu unfurled the National Flag.All the employees of the Municipal
Corporation took part in the event.Hoisting of National flag and honouring freedom fighters has
marked the celebrations

Gandhi Jayanthi was commemorated in
Municpal Office by all the municipal staff.
Mayor, Madamanchi Swaroopa, in her
speech during the occasion, has mentioned
that both Central and State governments are
working towards accomplishing Gandhi’s
dream of ‘Clean India’ through their
programmes ‘Swachh Bharat’ and ‘Swachh
Andhra’ respectively.
