Superintendent’s Corner Let me start off the year by thanking the members who contributed to
the Christmas Fund. We are very appreciative for your kindness and generosity. We
love being here and working at “Your” course. Thank You! Now for the rest of
you…..we appreciate y’all too. The members are what drives this place and we love
to see each and every one of you out on the course. This time of year is very exciting
because it seems like a fresh start. The course is a clean slate and we get to mold and
make it what we want it to be. This month we are going to tackle some bunker pro-
jects. We will be moving sand around so we can dig into the clay in some areas, so if
you hit into one of these, just drop out and thank us later for the free drop. We are
going to make some of the bunkers smaller to accommodate the mowers we use to
mow the surrounds. As they are now, the mower has to drive a tire onto the green to
fit between the green and bunker. This compacts those areas on the green and thins
out the grass. Don’t get too excited it’s not going to be much of a reduction in size.
We are finished removing the unsightly trees on the course for now. I never like to
cut down a tree, but sometimes because of health and safety, it’s necessary. Trees are
vital to any landscape and we try to promote tree health and vigor. I was heartbro-
ken when the Live Oak to the left of 9 green broke in half and showed the interior
rot it had been experiencing. We are currently thinking of ideas to replace that area
back to something more attractive than just grass. When the weather is nice, come
out and see us. See you out there!
