Principal’s Message
The School Association Committee wants your feedback. We are seeking your
ideas, opinions and feedback to support our school’s ongoing improvement. To
help us do this we are putting a Feedback Box opposite our Community
Noticeboard (just around the corner from the front office). Is there something
about your child’s education you want to know more about? Do you have an idea
or some feedback related to our school? Write it down and put it in our
Feedback Box. All feedback will be shared with our School Association
Committee and used to plan upcoming events and actions that our Committee
takes.
The School Association also wants more Committee members! We are calling for
nominations for the positions of Parent and Staff Representatives (see following
pages of this newsletter). Please consider being a part of this important
committee.
Yours in Partnership
Sarah-Jane Tregenza

Crazy Hair Day!
On Friday 7 April we are going to have a Crazy
Hair Day here at ACPS to help the Student Council
raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation. Hayden
from 5/6W, is going to shave off his hair at 2.00pm.
Could everyone please bring a gold coin donation for
this cause and wear crazy hair for the day.
Hayden said, “The reason why I am going to shave
my hair off is because Bruce McAvaney has leukaemia
and I would like to help find a cure for blood
cancer.”
Moderation Day — Thursday 13 April
(Student Free Day)
A state wide Moderation Day has been designated
for all schools grades K to 10 on 13 April 2017.
This Moderation Day enables teachers and
principals to participate in processes that will lead
to increased consistency of assessment and report
judgement. Teachers from the Latrobe Cluster,
(Port Sorell Primary, Andrews Creek Primary,
Sassafras Primary, Sheffield and Latrobe Primary
Schools) will meet together to look at student
work samples and will use the evidence and
research based Griffin Protocol to assist teachers in assessing for future teaching and learning. This
work will also guide our whole staff Professional
Learning throughout Terms 2 and 3. Thank you to
our families for your ongoing support of our
professional learning days.
Merit Assembly
We are having our last Merit Assembly for the
term on Wednesday 12 April at 2.00pm. We
hope that you can all come along and celebrate
the great things happening here at ACPS.
ANZAC Day - Latrobe Community March
The Student Council will be representing our
school at the Latrobe ANZAC Day parade and
ceremony. We would like to invite any other
ACPS students to join us to march in the parade.
Students are required to be in full school
uniform and can meet Mrs Tregenza at
9.30am next to the Latrobe Memorial Hall
(James Street). Rather than laying a wreath, our
two Student Council chair people Anissa and Hayden, will be laying a book at the cenotaph,
which will later be presented to Rubicon Grove.

NWPSSA Athletics Carnival
Our team braved the terrible conditions for the NWPSSA in Penguin 2 weeks ago. They did a wonderful
job in all of their events and Ivy and Tiarna qualified for the Twilight Carnival last Thursday. Thank you to all
of the teachers and parents who went over the carnival and helped out.
NWPSSA Twilight Carnival
Well done to our A-team that participated in
the NWPSSA Twilight Carnival in Penguin.
These superstars did an amazing job and our wonderful Ivy came 1st in the 100m and 2nd
in the 200m. She is now representing our
school at the Launceston State Finals on the
12 May. Congratulations Ivy!

3/4FV Sketching
In 3/4FV sketching sessions, we have been experimenting with graphite pencils. We have been learning how to create light and shade by applying different amounts of pressure to the pencil as we sketch. The topic for this session was to “sketch the make-believe”.
