Course Description
Commissioning is a process that enhances the delivery of a project and benefits the entire project team.. Weaving the commissioning process into an Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) project should be a natural fit because it involves more participants at an early phase and encourages communication and collaboration throughout the project life. This course will provide a brief introduction to the commissioning process and how the emergence of cloud based commissioning integrates with the BIM and IPD. We will review the commissioning process for design-bid-build compared to design-build, review the commissioning deliverables, review the document turnover process, introduce cloud based commissioning, and how all this relates to facility management.
• Participants will understand the commissioning process and how it integrates with the overall project life cycle.
• Participants will be introduced to how IPD and Commissioning can work together.
• Participants will understand the different commissioning deliverables and documents provided on a project and how they can benefit the owner.
• Participants will be introduced to Cloud Based Commissioning.

• Open “Collaboration”
“A quality-focused process for enhancing the delivery of a project. The process focuses on verifying and documenting that the facility and all of its systems and assemblies are planned, designed, installed, tested, operated, and maintained to meet the Owner’s Project Requirements.” ASHRAE Guideline 0-2005, The Commissioning Process

Commissioning Philosophy
Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision. The ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organizational objectives. It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results. —Andrew Carnegie

• Digital Management Exchange Guidelines
Integrated projects often rely on cutting edge technologies. Technologies are specified at projects initiation to maximize functionality, generality and interoperability. Open and interoperable data exchanges based on disciplined and transparent data structures are essential to support IPD. Because open standards best enable communication among all participants, technology that is compliant with open standards is used whenever available.
