Clinical Features Incubation period: 1-3 wks(usually6-21 days) Fever(104-105°F) with

chills,malaise,conjunctival Irritation. Maculopapular rash Lymphadenopathy,Lymphocytosis Headache, Cough, Myalgia Typical “Eschar formation”(5th day of

illness)

Prevention of bites

Removal of vegetation

Residual spraying of vegetation

Control of rodents

Chemoprophylaxis

• Oral chloramphenicol or tetracycline• Weekly doses of doxycycline 200 mg during

and for 6 weeks after exposure. • No effective vaccine till date.
