Who am I ?
? We always have a quick « assessment » on « who is » the person we are meeting. And this can be taken as an identity !
![Page 3: Impact of Racial Reconciliation in Missions](https://reader031.vdocuments.mx/reader031/viewer/2022022202/58819b001a28ab0d358b77ad/html5/thumbnails/3.jpg)
Who is this man? My father? What is our global
perspective on people ?
Who define our identity and what report do we believe ?
![Page 4: Impact of Racial Reconciliation in Missions](https://reader031.vdocuments.mx/reader031/viewer/2022022202/58819b001a28ab0d358b77ad/html5/thumbnails/4.jpg)
They said…• Omi and Winant :“…Race lies in the terrain of innate characteristics, of which skin color and other physical attributes provide only the most obvious, and in some respects most superficial, indicators... Without a racial identity, one is in danger of having no identity”.

They said…• Katongole and Rice“Without reference to an explicit beyond, we are left with versions of reconciliation that offer little concrete hope that fundamental change is possible… Reconciliation is a journey beyond our vision, beyond human actors and our strategies and program”.

They said…• Wright, Christopher J. H.“Fundamentally, our mission (if it is biblically informed and validated) means our committed participation as God’s people, at God’s invitation and command, in God’s own mission within the history of God’s world for the redemption of God’s creation”.

What STORY will you tell ?
![Page 9: Impact of Racial Reconciliation in Missions](https://reader031.vdocuments.mx/reader031/viewer/2022022202/58819b001a28ab0d358b77ad/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)
A Story of the GOSPEL...• The gospel (mission) is about identity as well as the racial issue.
• The incarnation (Word becomes flesh) is the way/pattern of the mission of God.
![Page 10: Impact of Racial Reconciliation in Missions](https://reader031.vdocuments.mx/reader031/viewer/2022022202/58819b001a28ab0d358b77ad/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)
Racial conflict = Identity crisis• What lies behind racial definition is identification of people which will end up being an identity to them.
• What is our identity?–Created in God’s image–Recreated in God’s image (likeness of His son)
![Page 11: Impact of Racial Reconciliation in Missions](https://reader031.vdocuments.mx/reader031/viewer/2022022202/58819b001a28ab0d358b77ad/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)
Racial conflict = Identity crisis• How do I understand my race:
–Against the other person (history of modern racial identity)
–From my origins (where we belong)
![Page 12: Impact of Racial Reconciliation in Missions](https://reader031.vdocuments.mx/reader031/viewer/2022022202/58819b001a28ab0d358b77ad/html5/thumbnails/12.jpg)
Racial conflict = Identity crisis• The problem with racial definition is that people want to identify themselves from others (comparison) and not from their origin (God’s creation) and their destiny (likeness of Jesus Christ).
• And this creates insecurities that can end up in horrible consequences.
![Page 13: Impact of Racial Reconciliation in Missions](https://reader031.vdocuments.mx/reader031/viewer/2022022202/58819b001a28ab0d358b77ad/html5/thumbnails/13.jpg)
Racial reconciliation…Identity transformation (1)
• The racial reconciliation comes from comprehending properly our new identity in Christ.
• The work of trading our old identity with new identity in Christ will define a new and one race.
![Page 14: Impact of Racial Reconciliation in Missions](https://reader031.vdocuments.mx/reader031/viewer/2022022202/58819b001a28ab0d358b77ad/html5/thumbnails/14.jpg)
Racial reconciliation…Identity transformation (2)
• Racial reconciliation, utopia or ultimate goal: Is building one race a reachable target or an ideal for life?
• Racial Reconciliation, a mean and an aim: racial reconciliation is not only an end result of God’s mission, it is also a mean to reveal God in missions.
![Page 15: Impact of Racial Reconciliation in Missions](https://reader031.vdocuments.mx/reader031/viewer/2022022202/58819b001a28ab0d358b77ad/html5/thumbnails/15.jpg)
Missio Dei = Identity redemption• While God’s mission is to redeem human beings into His image (identity), missions of men concern the work of the new man (with a new identity) as a partaker of this great mission.
• Joining God into His mission is not only very important but urgent to stop the disintegration of this world.
![Page 16: Impact of Racial Reconciliation in Missions](https://reader031.vdocuments.mx/reader031/viewer/2022022202/58819b001a28ab0d358b77ad/html5/thumbnails/16.jpg)
Missions today = one identity• Our identity can be a strength (if well defined) or
a hindrance (if bad defined) in missions. • As we serve within diverse communities, the
distance and difference between the missionaries and the communities will help or destroy the ministry.
• This is where we have to learn the pattern of God’s mission, the incarnation (or Word becomes flesh).
![Page 17: Impact of Racial Reconciliation in Missions](https://reader031.vdocuments.mx/reader031/viewer/2022022202/58819b001a28ab0d358b77ad/html5/thumbnails/17.jpg)
Conclusion.• The tension between God’s mission of building one community and the growing of racial conflicts and destruction of people/humanity is becoming more and heavier.
• We can choose to be spectators, victims or agents of change.
• And every day is a time of choice/decision.
