IELTS EXAM

LOVE READING

The reading paper consists of three sections and it lasts for approximately 60 minutes. It consists of three long reading passages with texts ranging from descriptive and factual, to discursive and analytical. It Includes non-verbal material such as diagrams, graphs and illustrations. Texts are authentic i.e taken from actual books, journals and newspapers.

LOVE WRITING

The writing part of the exam takes approximately 60 minutes and consists of two tasks. Writing Task One offers a choice of either ‘General’ or ‘Academic’ English, both require at least 150 words. The candidate must write a formal or informal letter, summarise, describe or explain a table, graph, chart or diagram. Writing Task Two is an essay consisting of a minimum of 250 words. Students are presented with a topic and will be tested on their ability to respond by giving and justifying an opinion, discussing the topic, summarizing details, outlining problems, identifying possible solutions and supporting what you write with reasons, arguments and relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

LOVE SPEAKING

The Speaking section of the exam consists of a three-part interview, which lasts approximately 15 minutes. In Part One, students are asked general questions about themselves. Students are expected to speak at length about a familiar topic followed by a structured discussion.

LISTENING

The Listening section lasts approximately 30 minutes. The tasks consist of four recorded monologues and conversations with supporting questions. The students are given an extra 10 minutes to transfer their answers onto an answer sheet.

designed to assess the language ability of candidates for emigration purposes and to study or work abroad. The

IELTS point score system

ranges from 1 to 9. Universities generally

require the following scores:

Foundation: 5.0-5.5 Undergraduate: 6.0-6.5

Postgraduate: 6.5+

Scores vary according to the company and country’s

requirements.

EXAMINATION DATES AND LOCATIONS: IELTS tests are administered in more than 500 accredited test centres in over 120 countries. Click here to find a test centre near you. HOW MUCH DOES THE EXAM COST? The IELTS exam is paid directly to the accredited Test Centre of your choice. The price varies from centre to centre and ranges is approximately £115 GBP, €190 Euros or $200 USD.

HOW TO BOOK?

Simply send ILE an email with the number of lessons you would like to book and the date you would

like to start your IELTS course. ILE will then send you an invoice with the payment details, which

must be paid 2 weeks prior to the commencement of the course. After confirming your booking, ILE

will set a date for your free test so we can ascertain your correct level of English and show you how

the online lessons work. ILE will then start preparing your personalised course according to you level.
