This unit develops pupils’ ability to create and perform their own songs, inspired by the fingerprints and conventions of popular four chord songwriting.
T2 Pupils use the skills they have learnt in T1 to work in groups to recreate either “Three Little Birds” or “Buffalo Soldier”. Pupils will learn about the musical features and history of Reggae music.
This unit provides students a platform to create their own soundscapes using Music technology. Students will create a narrative and then compose music to match the narrative.
This unit is designed to explore the role of music in society and builds on contextual elements covered in the previous Reggae Unit. Students will explore; Protest Songs and Spirituals Nationalism Music and repression Students will be encouraged to reflect on the role music plays in their own lives
This unit is designed to introduce students to the rich and varied world of classical music, explaining key terminology and de-mystifying the genre. Students will focus on a series of great composers and learn to perform their works while exploring contextual elements.
