Purpose of these Sessions

These online professional learning sessions will:

Build a community of teacher/learners beyond your school

Provide a framework for effective PLTs

Develop an effective process to evaluate online resources to support Curriculum Planning

Provide confidence and skills in using Ultranet

Page 4: I masterclasses series 3 episode 1v3

The Learning Intention for today is......To understand what Personalised Learning is and how it can support student learning The Success Criteria will include........1. I will know what the benefits of personalised learning

are for teaching and learning2. I will know how I can deliver personalised learning for

my students in my curriculum planning 3. I will gain an understanding of the VELS/ AusVELS

framework changes which will effect curriculum planning.

4. I will know that there are eLearning tools available for students that support personalised learning

Where are we from?

Page 6: I masterclasses series 3 episode 1v3

Does your PLT already have strategies in place for personalised learning?

Are the curriculum activities you are planning for your students a blend of inquiry based (assessment AS learning), explicit instruction (assessment FOR Learning) and/or support for individual learning needs (assessment OF learning)?

Page 7: I masterclasses series 3 episode 1v3

What is Personalised Learning?

Page 8: I masterclasses series 3 episode 1v3
Page 9: I masterclasses series 3 episode 1v3

Personalised learning is NOT differentiating instruction

Personalising learning means…• students know how they learn so they are

prepared for today and their future as global citizens.

• students are co-learners and co-designers of the curriculum and the learning environment.

• students own and drive their learning.

Page 24: I masterclasses series 3 episode 1v3

Let’s view the next 5 slides on how PLTs can work together effectively to personalise learning in curriculum planning and identify key eLearning tools students can use.

via Comic Life discussions…………..

Page 25: I masterclasses series 3 episode 1v3

I have found some curriculum planners that include eLearning that I think will help us personalise learning for our students and support their skills and use of key eLearning tools

O.K lets have a look at them and choose which one is best for our curriculum planning.

We want one that really helps us find activities that

match our student’s abilities

At the PLT

meeting

Page 26: I masterclasses series 3 episode 1v3

And include essential questions that are relevant and linked to the real world to make the learning purposeful

And give students choices in how they present their understandings, the eLearning tools we guide them to will really personalise the learning for their learning style

The activities we plan in

the unit can provide

choices too egs. online discussion

threads and thinking tools

Lets co create a rubric with our

students so they own the

learning and know the learning

intention and success criteria

Pooling our resources and strategies so we can plan a personalised curriculum

Page 27: I masterclasses series 3 episode 1v3

Some units that already exist and include Personalised Learning are the Learning Quests space, the Contemporary Learning units in FUSE, the Intel units and umm any more?

We can plan our inquiry unit from scratch using the planners or share the task of researching whether a unit already exists. Let’s divide the recommended resources so we each have one to research and find the best activities for our students

The key elements of effective curriculum planning-student data > plan > teach > assess

This planner includes…What works now and What are the best tools to support my learning intention

We’ll check our student data-so we know what our students already know and VELs/ Aus VELs and the developmental pathways to see what they need to know next…

Page 28: I masterclasses series 3 episode 1v3

O.K. Lets have a quick look at the Intel units and

the DEECD AusVELS Space

We can spend some time now looking at the DEECD

Learning Quests and Contemporary Learning units

in FUSE

Here comes our Principal, lets ask him to join in our next PLT to see what we all found out from our investigation of the units and share our plans for Personalised Learning and eLearning tools for our students
