O say can you see by the dawn’s early light,What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perilous fight,O’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets’ red glare, the bombs bursting in air,Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
O say does that Star Spangled Banner yet waveO’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

The School Hymn..................................................... Central Catholic Chamber Choir
O God of Truth, whom science seeks And reverent men adore,
Who brightens every earnest mind Of every clime and shore.
Dispel the gloom of error’s night, Of ignorance and fear,
Until true wisdom from above Shall make life’s pathway clear.
O Lord of Love, whose Spirit dwells In every human breast,
Whom love, and love alone, can know, In whom all hearts find rest.
Help us to spread your glorious reign ‘Til greed and hate shall cease,
And kindness dwells in human hearts, And all on earth find peace. Amen.

National Honor Society Criteria
Once selected for membership in the National Honor Society, the student must continue to demonstrate those outstanding qualities which brought about his selection, and he should also exert a special influence to improve conditions about him and promote the qualities of Character, Scholarship, Leadership, and Service for which the National Honor Society stands. Unselfish devotion typifies the essential attribute of service which functions as the foundation upon which the other characteristics may be constructed.
At Central Catholic High School, the principal service performed by the National Honor Society members is tutoring students who are having difficulty with one or more of their academic subjects. National Honor Society members also serve as ushers and guides at school functions and as assistants at freshman registration.
Central Catholic’s chapter of the National Honor Society is named for Saint John Baptist de La Salle, founder of the Brothers of the Christian Schools. Saint La Salle founded the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools in 1680 and is also the patron saint of the Christian teachers of youth. The Christian Brothers, as they are known in the United States, are the largest group of consecrated laymen devoted exclusively to the ministry of education. The Christian Brothers have conducted Central Catholic High School since its inception in 1927.
Selection for membership in the De La Salle Chapter requires that the student have and maintain a weighted Quality Point Average of at least 4.3, have a record of good conduct, and participate in at least two acceptable school/community service activities. If, during his senior year, the student is faithful to his obligations as a member of the Society, he receives his permanent certificate of membership at Commencement Exercises.
