Hello!
My name is George P. Bush. The people of Texas chose me to be the leader of the Texas General Land Office and the Texas Veterans Land Board, an organization that takes care of Veterans living in Texas. A Veteran is some-one who served in the United States military in either the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard. These brave men and women fought for our country by sacrificing their time and comfort to make sure that you and I stay safe and free. Veterans are very important people, in fact, did you know that 31 of the 44 presidents of the United States served in the military?
More than 1.5 million Veterans live in the great state of Texas, and it is our mission to make sure they all are properly honored for their service. This is an important task that I take much pride in. My uncle, George W. Bush once said, “There’s no bigger task than protecting the homeland of our country,” and that’s exactly what Veterans do. I hope you will join me in showing respect, and thanking our Veterans who sacrificed so much for our country.
- George P. BushTexas Land Commissioner andChairman of the Texas Veterans Land Board

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to serve as a fighter pilot in the Air Force, go on a nighttime mission in the jungle, or serve in our nation’s military during some of the most important battles of history? Mail Drop is your chance to ask these questions and hear exciting stories from United States Veterans themselves. A Veteran is someone who once served in the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard.
Mail Drop is a program that George P. Bush, the leader of the Texas Veteran Land Board, created for you to write letters to Veterans and learn about their lives. It is our duty as American citizens to thank Veterans for their service because they fought for our freedom and safety! Some of these brave Veterans have no family members to write them letters.
Write your letter to a Veteran below and have your mom or dad help you mail it to one of the Texas State Veteran Nursing Homes near you!
