A hemostat has been placed on the proper ovarian ligament. The closed ovariectomy retractor has been placed through the window in the broad liga-ment, caudal to the ovarian pedicle, per-pendicular to the skin incision. The two blunt prongs engage the hemostat on the proper ovarian ligament.
The two blunt prongs (A-B) of the re-tractor engage the hemostat. Digital pressure is applied at E-F and the retrac-tor is opened to the desired distance. Pressure from A-B to G allows the self-retaining mechanism to function.
The ovarian pedicle has been double-ligated; exposure has been maintained by means of the ovariectomy retractor. The pedicle is incised proximal to the ovary.
