ERP On the basis of application
ERP packages will be helpful to the company when it is designedin consultation with the In house People. This is not equally freefrom limitations. It can play havoc in the due course because the
customizations can defeat the functioning and objective of theERP process.
This type of ERP packages require the company to adjust to thebusiness process. The company experiences a paradigm shift in
the way it transacts business. This is intended to set the businessprocess to become more ERP friendly.

ADVENT OF ERP
ERP came into being with effect from 1990.Though ERP existed from the year 1960 in theform of MRP1 and MRP2.
In fact MRP2 was more or less ERP except for
its inability to coordinate departments otherthan marketing.
The whole period from the year 1960 is denoted
as the age of ERP.
The benefit of ERP was slowly felt from thisstage onwards.

regular labor and undertake training. This not only disturbs the regular functioning of
the organization but also runs the organization
in the huge risk of losing potential business inthat particular period.
Expensive due to outside consulting, dataanalysis and conversion, training.
It leads to performance problems that is whenpeople cant do their jobs in familiar way andhavent yet mastered the new way. This causespanic and business goes into losses.

DISADVANTAGES OF ERP
Making the choice:The major issue in choosing ERP package reflecting the purposeof implementing ERP in the organization and the areas or troublesintended to be covered. This will give a fair idea on the type ofERP package that the company has to choose. This has twoaspects. The company needs to identify the avenues forimprovement. The company then has to see that are of servicesspecialized by the vendor. The requirements of the company haveto be matched with the ERP Vendor. At the same time it has tosquare the procedures whose efficiency needs to be improvedfrom the good state to excellent trademark. If a company is
successful in spotting these elements then it will be able todecide the appropriate ERP package.
