A coilgnor Gass gnis a type of pro=ectileaccelerator consisting of one or
)ore coils used as electro)agnets in the con>guration of a linear )otor that
accelerate a ferro)agnetic or conducting pro=ectile to high elocity
T,E GAUSSIA( RIFFLE
The electro)agnetic ri?e is a 6eaponry designed to >re ferrous pro=ectiles 6ith
the help of high oltage currents discharged fro) a capacitor (an53 It is a si)ple
ri?e designed to reduce the co)ple@ity and cost of (ullets 3 The ri?e is (ased on
the concepts of electro)agnetic leitation and )agnetic propulsion techniuesB
the (asic idea is that 6hen a solenoid is )agnetisedB its core has the tendency
to pull any iron pro=ectile in to its core
If the current to the coil is stopped (efore the pro=ectile reaches the core then
the pro=ectile traels 6ith the sa)e high elocity in the sa)e direction it 6as
pulled to6ards its core

As the conductie pro=ectile approaches the air-core current loopsB t6o things
happen the loop indctance increases and the pro!ectile #ecomes
