Clean Harbors Landfill1.5 MW – New Jersey
Design Elements Include: • Ballasted modules sit on top of the
capped landfill• Beneficial use of land with
otherwise limited or no development potential
Project Benefits:• Defray the costs of landfill site
monitoring and cleanup with a revenue generating solar system
• Remain compliant with existing gas management energy generation plans

Lake County Solar5.4 MW – Indiana
Design Elements Include: • Two project sites, each
2.7MW on industrial land and adjacent to 24hr operating facilities
• Worked around site constraints of wetlands, railroads, waterways, and facilities
• Environmentally sensitive sites, and therefore used concrete ballasts to eliminate embedding posts

Landfill/BrownfieldDesign Considerations
Clean Harbors Landfill- 1.5 MWdc
• Design must maintain landfill integrity with no penetrations of cap
• Design must allow for continued landfill cap maintenance
• Maintain integrity of gas collection, groundwater and other remediation systems
• Design must accommodate future settling
Design Considerations

Project Benefits
1. Repurpose landfill into a productive clean energy generating property• Long term land lease provides stable revenue stream• Revenues could be utilized to help offset remediation costs
2. No up-front costs & no project risk to City and Site Owners• groSolar takes construction and O&M risk• Project owner can utilize federal income tax incentives (which non-taxable
entities cannot monetize)
3. Louisville would host the largest Solar PV Project in KY and one of the largest landfill projects in the country• Local jobs and economic development• Supports environmental and sustainability goals• Significant public relations opportunity • Provides educational and career development opportunities in a rapidly
growing industry
