A UNIQUE RIDING EXPERIENCERide for the fun or ride for the challenge—either way, mark your calendar for August 4, 2012, when Great River Energy and the Mesabi TrailSM again join forces in northern Minnesota to support two state traditions: recreational trails and AMPERS, Diverse Radio for Minnesota’s Communities. The Great River Energy Mesabi TrailSM Tour ‘12 offers great food, music and family entertainment. Charitable proceeds will be donated to AMPERS and the Mesabi TrailSM.
Now there are routes – and they all lead to fun!The Great River Energy Mesabi TrailSM Tour is a day-long event designed for families and serious trail riders alike. Four starting points allow riders to customize their route, from 13 to 64 miles. At the end of the day, all trails lead to Virginia, where the event culminates in an outdoor picnic and concert. Whichever starting point you choose, you’ll encounter his-toric and scenic points of interest with fun stops along the way. We’ll even transport you and your bike to your start point.

Mesabi TrailSM
From the Mississippi tothe Boundary Waters
The Mesabi TrailSM offers an abundance of nature and outdoor experiences. You may choose to hike, bike, skate, ski, snowshoe and, in some areas snow-mobile, along the Trail as it traverses over 100 miles and through 25 communities. These communities offer historical buildings, mining artifacts, early industry and ethnic history, plus other treasures well worth the discovery. For-ests teeming with wildlife can be found between rolling hills. Streams and creeks provide habitat for birds and animals. Grand heaps of earth provide man-made mountains that are becoming regrowth forests lining the edges of some of the world’s largest mines. These former mines are fast becoming a linked chain of watery passage-ways. Come enjoy a quality guest experience in the Land of Mesabi, via the Mesabi TrailSM.
