Agenda

• Goal• Give you “big picture” of Fusion UI design principles • Use this as jumping off point to learn more on FusionGPS

• Core Fusion UI design principles• Involve the user throughout the development process• UI Shell and Navigation• Work Areas• Analytics• Collaboration Features• Design patterns (covered this morning)

Involve user throughout development process

• Observe/interview the user doing their current job. • Validate low and high fidelity prototypes with user.• Revalidate code with user before shipping using

usability testing.

To learn more • UX Direct Checklist (see Chuck Abell)• Jakob Nielson: Discount Usability Engineering• Steven Krug: Rocket Surgery made Easy

UI Shell: Contextual Area

• Dynamic information related to the local area (analytics, shopping carts, related links)

• Changes as the local area changes

Fusion Applications: Core design principles

• Workareas: Complete Your Work Easier

Before: Several steps to complete a task

After: Easier navigation and a streamlined workflow

What Are Work Areas?

• An organizing element in Fusion applications

• A collection of related pages designed to support a specific user role in accomplishing a specific business goal

• The place users perform most of their work in the system

• Tab models support organizing information based on task needs.

• Dynamic tabs• Static tabs

Page 16: For Internal Use Only – Fusion Apps Internal Training

No Tabs Model

• Most common in Fusion• Less complex than tabbed models• For simpler, less cluttered UIs

Page 17: For Internal Use Only – Fusion Apps Internal Training

Dynamic Tabs Model

• Designed to support true multi-tasking among multiple objects and tasks

Page 18: For Internal Use Only – Fusion Apps Internal Training

Which Analytics Technologies Apply Where

• The entire Home Dashboard can be created in OBIEE with UI Shell (we call it BI Dashboards).

• Alternatively, Home Dashboard can be created by dropping individual ADF DVT or OBIEE regions from Webcenter Catalog.

• Transactional Dashboards, work areas, or transactional pages can contain regions created either in OBIEE or in ADF DVT.

• Reporting pane can be a launching point to both printable (BI Publisher) reports and interactive (OBIEE) reports, as well as Hyperion reports.

Analytics Editors

• Analytic regions on the dashboard can be moved around, added, or removed with Page Composer and Resource (Webcenter) Catalog.

• OIBEE environment, Answers (either full or wizard) can be launched to enable editing content of Analytic regions that are built in OBIEE and to create new OBIEE content.

• BIP environment can be launched to eanble editing or creating of new BIP reports.
