THIS WEEK IN THE PARISH
A few words from our Pastor:-
This Saturday, Bishop Gary will be instituting our diocesan deacon candidates as acolytes in our Parish. It is an important step towards their upcoming ordination to service.
This week we also celebrate Ash Wednesday, the beginning of our Lenten journey. Every garden needs to be renewed by a good trim and our Christian lives are much the same. A good Lenten penance is to give up a luxury that has somehow become a necessity in our lives.
Those who are ill.
Clovis Amando, Daphne Bowles, Arnie Cavanagh, Marnie Essery, Edmee Kearney, Wladyslaw Kuzminski, Agnieszka Lassak, Ursula Lowe, Ben Perri, Lawrence Peterson, Bea Sheard, Evelyn Vincent, Evangeline Williams and Charlotte Zalanfy.
Those who are deceased.
Paul Antosz, Barrie Carlson, Jose Manuel de Lima, Janette Moussa – Sader, Irene Remedios and Kazimirsk Sapijaszko.
Ash Wednesday Wednesday, Feb 14
Mass in English: 9:00am and 6:00pm Mass in Korean: 7:30pm.
Stations of the Cross
Will be held Friday evenings at 6:00pm, beginning February 16 until March 23 and at 10am on March 30. ————————————————————————-
Installation as Acolytes
Next Saturday, Feb. 17th, Bishop Gary will celebrate our 5pm Mass and during the Mass install four candidates for the Permanent Diaconate as Acolytes.
This is a necessary and final step on their journey to Ordination, which will take place in July.
While the duties of the Acolyte are minimal, the brief ritual emphasizes that these men are destined for service at the Altar (in addition to their ministry of Charity) and that they should learn all matters concerning public divine worship and strive to grasp their inner spiritual meaning so as to offer themselves daily to God and be an example to all as well as having
a sincere love for the Mystical Body of Christ, the people of God, especially the weak and sick. ————————————————————————- Parish Lenten Mission
