The town of Sidi Bou Said is a town in the northern suburbs of the capital, located 17 km northeast of Tunis. Sidi Bou Said is an exceptional natural site recognized as having panoramic views of the most beautiful in the world which is registered in the UNESCO list of World Heritage. The main indicators characterizing the city and related to waste management are: 7000 inhabitants (1 800 households) / The number of visitors per year is estimated at one to two million / 80 commercial facilities: Restaurants, Coffee, Hotels / 3 major institutions of higher education (2400 students): IPEST, ENAU, IHET. / Establishments in primary and secondary education: Loghmani institution (private) and 2 elementary schools / The topography of the city is characterized by a relatively high road slope (> 16%), narrow alleys and dead ends. After developing its Municipal Plan for Waste Management (PCGD), the city of Sidi Bou Said has set a goal of zero waste in 2021.
