An important quality in anactor?

1 The urge to learn and grow with everyperformance. An actor should never besatisfied; I’m never satisfied. Learning

from your experience with every film andimproving upon it, is an essential quality every actor must possess. The day anactor thinks they have achieved everything, they will stagnate.

Is it difficult for a newcomerto make it big in Bollywood?

2 It can either take one film or morefor someone to be up there. There isno formula for success. When you are

up there, it is about how you survive, han-dle it and take it forward. There are newpeople joining the industry every day. If Ilook left, right and centre, I would not beable to focus on my work. It is a very energy-consuming place; Bollywood candrain you emotionally.

Are you a party person?

3 I am more of an intimate person, I likepersonal gatherings. But I do go out forsome events. It doesn’t mean I do not

have friends. I just have a very close group of

pals, and we meet up frequently. Icannot hang out with somebody justfor the sake of it. I like simplicity, Ilike people who are simple. I likehaving conversations morethan partying.

Do you think weare breaking themould of theHindi film heroine?

4 Today, we are talking about new-age Indiaand modern women,

so why not portray it infilms? I am glad I’m gettingto play evolved characters. We should not get shackledby any mind-set. We need to bebrave in our choices as artistes.

What do you lookfor in a script?

5 Language doesn’t make adifference for me. A goodscript and a strong role is

what I would want as an actor.
