Prayer of Adoration
GIVE PRAISE AND THANKS TO GOD_________________
*Hymn of Praise #293 “Christ is Risen! Shout Hosanna!” Deacons will collect prayer requests
*Prayer of Confession Dear God, with praise and thanksgiving we celebrate the
amazing truth that you bring forgiveness and life out of fear and
death. The resurrection of Jesus proclaims that nothing can separate
us from your love. We need this assurance because there are times
when, like those first disciples, we are afraid, unwilling or unable to
declare our allegiance to Christ. We ask you to change us and
transform us. Roll away the heavy stones of fear or regret or
disappointment. Remove whatever it is that keeps us from drawing
closer to you as Easter people—people who love you, who are loved
by you, and who share your love with all people. Amen.
*Assurance of God’s Forgiveness
*Congregational Response Hymn #291 Alleluia, Alleluia! Give thanks to the risen Lord, Alleluia,
Alleluia! Give praise to his name! Come, let us praise the living God,
joyfully sing to our Savior. Alleluia, Alleluia! Give thanks to the risen
Lord, Alleluia, Alleluia! Give praise to his name!

daily bread; and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors; and
lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the
kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

Welcome everyone! Do you notice that even in the resurrection story fear plays a
role? We see Jesus offering reassurance, freeing the women at the tomb from the
fear they are experiencing. Yet the fear the women are experiencing is
understandable because, after all, they are talking to a dead man!! I call this the fear
of the unknown. Part of the joy of celebrating Easter is the realization that
resurrection is not just a strange and awesome event that happened some 2000 years
ago, but something that happens to us here and now. Christ makes us new creatures,
and with God’s help we overcome our fear, make new friends, let go of old hurts and
prejudices, enter new relationships, and learn new ways of faithful living. Happy
Easter to you and yours! - Pastor Karl
