She earned her PhD from the Julius-Maximilian UniversityWurzburg,Germany,whereshestudiedimmuneescapemechanismsoftumours.HerpostdoctoraltrainingattheLudwig-MaximilianUniversityMunichandatQueen’sUniversityBelfastfocussedoninnateandadaptive immune mechanisms in autoimmune diseases such as Psoriasis and Multiple Sclerosis(Dombrowski et al, Science TranslationalMedicine 2011; Dombrowski et al Nature Neuroscience,2017).
TheDombrowskigroup investigates innateandadaptive immunemechanismsthatpromotetissuerepair after sterile and infectious tissue damage,with particular focus on the role of regulatory Tcells and inflammasomes in CNS repair in the context of Multiple Sclerosis. Another line ofinvestigationstudiestheroleofinflammasomesintissuerepairatotheranatomicalsitessuchasthelung,thebladderandtheoralcavity.
