YESTERDAY’S ACTION: The Tigers won the rubber game of their series against the Giants, 6-2, at Comerica Park. Detroit jumped on San Francisco starter Chris Stra� on early, scoring a fi rst inning run on a RBI single by Miguel Cabrera. The Tigers added three more runs in the second inning on a RBI single by Alex Presley and a two-run homer by Dixon Machado, his fi rst Major League home run. Another RBI single by Presley in the third inning put the Tigers in front 5-0. The Giants got two runs back in the sixth on a RBI triple by Joe Panik and a RBI groundout by Hunter Pence. The Tigers added an insurance run in the eighth inning on a RBI single by Nicholas Castellanos. Anibal Sanchez (W, 1-0) started for Detroit and allowed two runs on six hits with a season-high eight strikeouts. Shane Greene, Bruce Rondón and Jus� n Wilson each threw a perfect inning in relief to preserve the win.

J-UP ADDED TO AL ALL-STAR TEAM: Major League Baseball announced earlier today that Tigers ou! ielder Jus� n Upton has been added to the American League All-Star Team. It marks Upton’s fourth career All-Star selec� on (also, 2009, 2011 and 2015) and his fi rst in the AL. In 78 games this season, Upton is hi" ng .271 (76x280) with 51 runs scored, 21 doubles, 15 home runs and 54 RBI. He currently ranks third in the AL with a .384 (28x73) ba" ng average with runners in scoring posi� on and � ed for fourth with six ou! ield assists.

SENSATIONAL SANCHIE: Anibal Sanchez earned his fi rst win of the season yesterday vs. San Francisco, tossing 6.0 innings and allowing two runs on fi ve hits with eight strikeouts. It marked Sanchez’s fi rst victory since August 23, 2016 at Minnesota. In four starts since being recalled from Triple A Toledo, Sanchez has a 1-0 record with a 3.09 ERA (23.1IP/8ER) and 22 strikeouts.

ELIAS SAYS: According to the Elias Sports Bureau, with his win yesterday, Anibal Sanchez has a 7-2 record with a 2.09 ERA (69.0IP/16ER) in home games against Na� onal League teams. Against American League visitors in Detroit over the last fi ve seasons, Sanchez is 20-18 with a 4.43 ERA (335.1IP/165ER).

TRIPLE THREAT: Nicholas Castellanos recorded his American League leading sixth triple in yesterday’s game, tying his single-season career high (also, 6 in 2015). Castellanos is looking to become the fi rst Tiger to lead the AL in triples since Aus� n Jackson had 10 in 2012.

NO FREE PASSES: Four Tigers pitchers combined to not issue a walk in yesterday’s game vs. San Francisco. It was the second � me this season the Tigers have not walked a ba� er in a game (other, 6/29 vs. KC). The Tigers also struck out 13 ba� ers in yesterday’s win. It marked just the seventh � me since 1913 that the Tigers have struck out 13-or-more ba� ers in a game, while not issuing a walk (last, 8/3/2014 vs. COL).

MR. 2,000: Tigers designated hi� er Victor Mar� nez enters tonight’s game one hit shy of 2,000 for his career. Only eight ac� ve players in the majors have at least 2,000 career hits -- Ichiro Suzuki (3,054), Adrian Beltre (2,975), Albert Pujols (2,901), Carlos Beltrán (2,681), Miguel Cabrera (2,589), Robinson Canó (2,295), Ma� Holliday (2,056) and José Reyes (2,030). Mar� nez is also looking to become the eighth Venezuelan-born player to reach the 2,000 hit mark.

MIGGY ROCKS VS. CLEVELAND: Miguel Cabrera has posted impressive career numbers against the Indians. In 173 games vs. Cleveland, Cabrera has a .345 (226x655) ba" ng average with 122 runs scored, 35 doubles, 45 home runs and 150 RBI. He leads all ac� ve players with 226 hits, 122 runs scored, 45 home runs and 150 RBI against the Indians, while he is second with a .345 ba" ng average, a .422 on-base percentage and 1.026 OPS and third with a .605 slugging percentage. In 86 career games at Progressive Field, Cabrera has posted a .345 (118x342) ba" ng average with 64 runs scored, 19 doubles, 24 home runs and 81 RBI.

TIGERS AND INDIANS: The Tigers have won fi ve of their fi rst nine games against the Indians this year, surpassing their win total from the en� re 2016 season (4-14). Da� ng back to last season, Detroit has won three of the last four series vs. Cleveland. The Tigers won two of three games in the fi rst series this season in Cleveland, but the Indians have won four of the last fi ve series here at Progressive Field.

HALL, STEWART EARN TIGERS MINOR LEAGUE HONORS FOR JUNE: Le# handed pitcher Ma� Hall and ou! ielder Chris� n Stewart have been named the Tigers Pitcher and Player of the Month, respec� vely, for the month of June. Hall pitched in four games, including three starts, with Single A Lakeland during the month and had a 3-0 record with a 0.00 ERA (25.2IP/0ER) and 31 strikeouts. Hall also garnered Florida State League Player of the Month honors for June. Stewart played in 29 games with Double A Erie and hit .317 (32x101) with 16 runs scored, nine doubles, fi ve home runs and 21 RBI.

SIGNED, SEALED AND DELIVERED: The Tigers today announced the signing of their 28th round selec� on from the 2017 MLB Dra# , 2B Cameron Warner from Texas Chris� an University. With the signing of Warner, the Tigers have now signed 31 of the 40 players the club selected in this year’s dra# .

ABOUT JORDAN: In his second season with the Tigers and his ninth season

in the majors, Zimmermann will make his 17th start of 2017 tonight in the

series opener at Cleveland.

LAST TIME OUT: Zimmermann suff ered his sixth loss of the season in Game

2 of the doubleheader on Saturday vs. Cleveland, allowing four runs on fi ve

hits with one walk and fi ve strikeouts in 5.2 innings.

VS. CLEVELAND: Zimmermann has faced the Indians three # mes in

his career and has a 0-2 record with a 10.67 ERA (14.1IP/17ER) and 14

strikeouts.

ON THE ROAD: Zimmermann has started 100 career games on the road
