Deciduous ForestDeciduous means “falling off at maturity” or “tending to fall off”. It’s often referred for trees or shrubs that lose their leaves seasonally, and to the shedding of other plant structures after flowering. Deciduous forests are usually found in eastern Europe, northern Europe, parts of America, and parts of China.

ClimateDeciduous forests are in Koppen’s C climate category. The latitude range is anywhere from 23 north to 38 south. Something interesting about the deciduous forest is that it has 4 distinct seasons: spring, summer, autumn, and winter. Most deciduous forests have mild summers about 70 F. summer months begin in early June and end in late August. Winter months don’t begin until December. Winter temp. are fairly cool with an average temp. of a little under freezing. Almost all the world’s deciduous forests are located by an ocean.

Animals (American Bald eagle)

The Bald Eagle is a large, fierce looking bird. In Latin, its name means “the sea eagle with a white head”. It’s the national symbol of the U.S. of America. Today this eagle is seen on many things in the U.S. such as on money, seals, and other patriotic symbols. The Bald Eagle usually lives 40 to 50 years in captivity and 25 years in the wild.
