Dear LifePath Friends and Family,Spring is gaining momentum, so I’d like to use this opportunityto focus on bright opportunities for the future. Every year, our environment goes through a rejuvenation process in which even oldtrees and ancient meadows respond to the sun’s warm energy andput forth a show of vitality and beauty. LifePath has accomplishedsome great things over this past year’s cycle and we are ready to keepmoving forward.
Last year LifePath took steps to insure the continuing positive futureof the organization. Because of those efforts, we are now preparingto move into a new building which will reduce costs and provideimproved facilities for three of our programs. I am especially happythat the new site comes with a walking path that will allow people to get outside for some fresh air once in a while!
LifePath is continuing to take steps to provide increasing levels ofquality and satisfaction in our services. We are adding new trainingsto our staff curriculum and reemphasizing positive practices and positive outcomes. As this report’s cover shows, respect, dignity, care and independence continue to be
cornerstones at LifePath.
The Governor’s budget request includes funds for staff salaries and funds to provide services for people who have been onPennsylvania’s waiting list. Unfortunately, previous budget cycleshave shown us that only when the Governor’s office and theLegislature come to a final agreement do things get done. We need to make sure that this opportunity does not wither up in the legislative process. Please help us advocate for better services by letting your representatives know that our services are important and that we vote!
Every Monday I sit down with a new group of LifePath staff during their first day of orientation to welcome them to the agency.Just about every day of the week I meet someone that LifePath serves.
Our staff and the people we serve are our future. They bring us energy and open us up to aworld of opportunities.
In the hallway of our Sellersville office recently, I was interrupted from my work-worldthoughts by a middle-aged gentleman’s question, “Can you tie my shoes?” Well, thank heavens for requests like that! A simple request for some basic assistance became an opportunity to get to know a guy named Frankie who truly is a treasure and a joy. His infectious personality is making me smile right now.
Frankie wasn’t too shy to ask for some help. LifePath also has to ask for your assistance. Please help us in our efforts to secure a better future for people like Frankie by making a generous contribution. Thank you for your support.
“LifePath's mission is to provide the
highest quality of services to people
needing specialized support through the
blending of professional knowledge, arts and
skills in an environment of unconditional
respect and dignity.”

“Of all the benefits a LifePath employee receives, the one that is seldom advertised is how working with our residents puts your ownlife in perspective. Prior to LifePath, the outcome of my job alwaysfocused on one thing – profits and the bottom line. At LifePath, weare in the job of people – our main objective every day is to provideindividuals with disabilities an opportunity to live their lives to thefullest. Seeing our residents’ smiling faces after a party, a trip to thestore or an activity – the little things we may take for granted everyday – makes you realize how lucky you truly are and personally makesme proud that my job is making a difference in someone’s life. A bad day for me can always be turned around with a visit to one of our homes or day programs. I am happy to be a part of theLifePath family and proud to promote LifePath’s extraordinary work in the community.”
– Ann Marie Surovy, Public Relations & Development Coordinator
“I feel it is an awesome privilege to have the opportunity to work with such wonderful children who appreciate my silliness and adoration! These kids give me a reason to wake up and come towork and see their incredible zest to be alive!”
– Jen Loux, Program Specialist at Ridge Crest Pediatric Care Facility
“LifePath not only provides essential servicesto those in need, it creates a greatly neededawareness in the community for individualswith special needs.”
– Mary Beth Horner, Fiscal Director
“I have worked for LifePath for almost fifteen years and I have had the opportunity to see manywonderful things. I especially like when there is anindividual who comes to LifePath with limitations‘on paper’, and we are able to find ways to opendoors for that individual and work around those‘limitations’ to help them become as independent as they are able. My favorite memory is a femalewho entered one of our ICF/MR facilities withmany ‘challenging behaviors’. She had not beenable to succeed with other agencies, and we welcomed her. After a few years of programming, she showed us her many strengths and worked hard to overcome occasional outbursts. With muchsupport, she succeeded in becoming a candidate forfamily living. She has now been with the samefamily for over seven years.”
– Jennifer Heffelfinger, Senior Associate Director
“LifePath is a place where staff and residentslearn and grow together. The joy of workinghere is teaching, supporting, and loving. The benefit is when you realize you’ve beentaught, supported and loved back! I’velearned it’s the little moments that count themost; the smiles and laughs, the triumphsthat never seemed possible, people pullingtogether to accomplish the same goal and so much more. In my 9+ years and severalpositions at LifePath, I have experiencedcountless numbers of cherished moments toremember for a lifetime.”
– Amanda Knight, Secretary
“LifePath’s main purpose is to givethe people we serve a good quality of life in a safe and secure environment. The positive impactwe have on the lives of people and,in many cases their families, cannotbe measured. Even little things likeremembering someone's birthday orcomplimenting them on their clothescan brighten the day of many peoplewe serve. I've see the best come outin the staff when they show genuineconcern for the lives of the peoplethey care for. We have a lot of greatpeople working here and they dogood work with creativity andresourcefulness.”
– Bob Madden, Behavior Training Specialist
“To work in the human service sector, employees must have patience, compassion, and a belief in facilitatingquality life experiences for all individuals. I feel that those employedby LifePath exemplify these attributes.”
– Sue Koszalka, Therapist

1. Including LifePath in your estate plans, annuity or charitable trust helps provide for the longevity of our organization
2. Supporting our endowment fund allows LifePath to raise its standard of care year after year
3. Contributing to our annual fund ensures that your gift goes to work immediately
4. Attending an event is a great way to not only generate funds, but to also raise community awareness of our mission
5. Transferring your stocks to LifePath, Inc. is a convenient way to make a meaningful gift and enjoy many tax benefits
6. Volunteering your time to visit with residents, assist in mailings, or chaperone a field trip is a rewarding experience
“From what we get, we can make a living; what we give, however, makes a life.” – tennis pro Arthur Ashe
To everyone who supported LifePath’s 2005-2006 development program, thank you. We are hopeful that we can count on your generosity for many years to come!
Please consider making a gift from the heart.
