Downtown Leaders Work to StrengtheOur Business CommunityThe people who ll our oce buildings every
day make downtown hum. The nearly 24,000
people who work downtown support amenities
like restaurants, bars, galleries, banks, and other
retail services. These jobs also draw housing de-velopments and recreational activities. To make
downtown Dayton the healthy, vibrant commu-
nity it can be, we must ocus on strengthening
our job base. Thats why the Downtown Dayton
Partnership and the City o Dayton are stepping
up their eorts in 2008 to retain downtown
businesses with the Downtown Dayton Leader-
ship Network.
The Downtown Dayton Leadership Network is
a group o 20 prominent, downtown business
leaders who are passionate about the core and
the success o its businesses. These leaders arecommitted to downtown and will be pounding
the pavement this year to visit key downtown
businesses. During these visits, the leaders will
work to build stronger relationships with these
businesses, identiy issues, and work to solve
them. Downtown prides itsel on having an
atmosphere where colleagues and competi-
tors alike interact almost daily. The Downtow
Dayton Leadership Network will enhance thes
relationships, helping to strengthen the conne
tion our existing businesses have to downtow
Additionally, the Downtown Dayton Leadersh
Network will address any problems proactive
In recent years, some businesses have depart
downtown. The Downtown Dayton Leadersh
Network, as part o the DDPs retention and
expansion program, will be working to solve
problems beore they become major obstacl
to staying downtown.
Ultimately, the relationships and eedback
gained rom the Downtown Dayton Leader-
ship Network will help the DDP and its partne
make downtown a dynamic job center, whic
in turn will help oster a community in which
people want to work, live and play. Check bac
later this summer and into the all or a progre
report on this new initiative.
