Highlights for 2017-18
3rd Edition of BC BIG BASH – Great success with 11 competitive teams participated including IPL, National Players.
Junior Programs has seen a substantial rise in BC with the help from both the Leagues.
School & University Cricket Programs has grown in Vancouver & Victoria.
Umpiring and Coaching program is in place through Mainland (VCU&SA) and Island (VISCUS) Leagues.
New Turf Wicket at West Newton and Abbotsford played out well with constant high profile games scheduled.
Promoting Women’s Cricket from BC through Inter-Provincial tournament.
BC Team won in almost all the categories of Inter Provincial tournaments – Junior (Jack Kyle U19), Womens, Senior Mens.
Financial
Provincial Government Funding targeting Junior
Programs spending for the Year 2017-18
Need to develop more Junior and Women Program to
create avenue for more funding from various Provincial
and Federal funding programs
Plans for TV broadcasting rights to generate funding by
Cricket match telecast
Sponsorship drive through BC BIG BASH and various
National level tournaments
JUNIOR & WOMEN PROGRAM
Various Junior Programs both through Indoor academy and outfield practice / games.
Successfully running Saturday Morning Junior League Ganga Junior Championship aims for Juniors between 6-15 years by
BCMCL School Leagues have become a growing success with Inter School
competitions from both Island and Mainland schools competing. Universities are being targeted and the plan is to make a full fledged
University and College League Juniors participating through Jack Kyle cup for U19 shows the strength
and determination from the youngsters with success. KidsPlay U17 Tournament with the help of Kids Play Organization. BC Women Team is the Western Champions for the 3rd year. BC have
nearly 4 full team roster for womens
CONCLUSION
It has been a substantial year for Cricket BC in 2017-18, where
we saw some great promises and challenges at the same time.
We have an exceptional management team, which is already
making great progress towards our goals for 2018-19.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Cricket Canada
for its committed support towards every region in this country.
