2 CITY OF RYDE PROCUREMENT
The ATTACHED report on formal procurement at the City of Ryde provides information as to Requests for Tender or Requests for Quotation that are currently in the market. The report also outlines those items of procurement (if any) that are to be reported to the next meeting of Council in accordance with the requirements of the Local Government Act and Regulations. This includes all procurement in the bracket of $50k - $150k in value (Request for Quotation) or exceeding $150k inc GST (Request for Tenders).
Some of these processes may be marked as being limited to selective respondents. Where this is the case, there has been a publicly advertised Expression of Interest process to establish select respondents or a panel of select respondents that are prequalified to undertake the required works.

4 UTS RESEARCH - COUNCIL DECISION-MAKING
Local Government NSW (LGNSW) encourages Councillors to complete a 10-minute survey for a UTS research project designed to help determine how elected local government officials make decisions.
This research is being undertaken by the UTS Centre for Local Government and includes a series of decision-making scenarios commonly experienced by local government representatives.
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Decision_Making_by_Councillors
LGNSW will receive a full copy of the survey results and will report on the results in the LGNSW Weekly Newsletter that Councillors receive via BoardVantage.
For further information regarding the survey, Councillors are encouraged to contact Lorie Parkinson, Council’s Governance Coordinator or 9952 8063.

7 COMMUNITY CONSULTATION - WEST RYDE PLAZA
The Coles development and the supporting VPA works at West Ryde have recently been completed. Council will soon take possession of the West Ryde Plaza which will provide an opportunity for Council to undertake further embellishment works to this public space. The Four Year Delivery Plan has $400,000 for the works to be completed in 2016-17.
A draft concept design has been developed which responds to the feedback provided by the West Ryde community; the design focuses on improving the amenity and activation of the Plaza.
Council will be seeking community feedback on the draft concept design through a series of consultation activities, including:
Presentation to the West Ryde Business Chamber Wednesday 24 August – the Chamber has extended an invitation to other key community stakeholders including Meadowbank - West Ryde Progress Association, West Ryde Neighbourhood Watch and the Easter Festival Committee;
Community Consultation sessions will be undertaken on site at Market City West Ryde to allow staff to hear first-hand the feedback of the local community.
Thursday 25 August 11-1pm (at the Plaza entry to Market City West Ryde)
Saturday 27 August 10-12pm (at the Plaza entry to Market City West Ryde);
Flyers will be distributed within the community to promote the consultation;
‘Have Your Say’ page will be created on Council’s web site to capture feedback from the broader community; and
An online survey will provide Council with quantifiable data on the feedback received.
Once the consultation has been completed, Councillors will be provided a further update.
Please find attached the draft concept design for your review and consideration.

8 AWESOME AUGUST IN RYDE LIBRARIES - THE CONTINUING STORY
During the July school holidays we held a science quiz for primary school children. The questions were based on our wonderful curiosity cabinet collections to encourage children to visit West Ryde Library. We had nearly 100 entries from our local young people and organised an award presentation on Wednesday 3 August at West Ryde where entrants joined us to find out the winners. Our first prize was a family pass to the National Australian Maritime Museum with other prizes including science packs with science discovery kits and science books as well as lucky door prizes on the day.
Our annual Knit In on Friday 5 August welcomed 80 community knitters and crocheters who came together to sew squares for the charity Wrap with Love. By 2pm the annual total had climbed to 519 rugs for donation, an amazing accomplishment. We will end our rug count on Friday 12 August. A huge thanks to all staff involved.

COUNCILLOR INFORMATION BULLETIN 23 August 2016 - Issue 33/16
Our monthly Musical Morning tea with the Macquarie University Singers was held on Monday 8 August and saw over 85 community members enjoy a morning full of wonderful music. They performed excerpts from their program ‘Stand by Me’. Once again Hugh Mackay came and discussed his latest book ‘Beyond belief’ to over 60 people at Ryde Library on Tues 9 August. His fascinating talk was enjoyed by all.
