Benefits of an Excel model
• The Excel model– Uses current Excel technology– Can be understood and updated by anyone
with Excel knowledge– Can be instantly updated for many changes
How does the model work?
• How does data get into the model
• How do the allocators work
• How does it specifically assign
• How does the allocator exhibit page work
• How do we print the reports
What happens in the model?
Tabs
• These are the tabs in the model
• We’ll discuss each tab in the following slides

How do we get the new data into the model?
• There’s input data on 3 tabs of the model, Input1, Input2 and AllocatorData
• Input1 is for total company numbers and assigning the allocator to use
• Input2 is for allocators and direct assignments
• AllocatorData is the raw demand that gets used to develop the demand allocators

How do we get reports out of the model?
• How do we print the exhibit pages
• How do we print the workpapers
• How do we print just the summary pages
• How do we get those same reports for the production and distribution tabs
Total
Prod
Dist
How do we change the model?
• Inserting/Removing rates
• Inserting/Removing detail
• Adding/Changing allocators
Differences between DTE & CE Models
• Assignment of the production allocator
• AllocatorData Tab– Raw Demand Data– Classpeak & 4CP MH
Choosing the Production Allocator
• Here you enter either 4 or 12 for the ‘method’ variable and then enter the weightings for demand, energy on peak and total energy
• This is a little different than the DTE model in that you do not need to enter anything for the ‘Staff’ variable (located in B3)
Raw Demand Data
• The AllocatorData tab includes the raw demand data for 12 monthly peaks as well as the 4CP MH and classpeak
• Here you can see the 12CP data
How to change 12CP into any other monthly peak method
• All you need to do is delete the raw data for the months not in use
• For example, if you wanted to make a 4CP allocator you would delete the data from months circled below
Creating a 4CP Allocator
• Now that the off months have no data, the totals update and those values are used to create the 12CP allocator
• The name of the allocator does not change, but the underlying data has
• The assignment of the production allocator needs to use 12 for the ‘method’ variable
