easytoforgetaboutwateruse.Withrisingtemperaturescomesanincreaseinwateruse,(almostthreetimeshigherinsummercomparedtowinter)andaneedforconservation.Herearesomequickandeasytipsforconservingwater,bothindoorsandoutdoors:SaveWater&SaveGreen!Indoors• ConsiderusinganEnergyStardishwasheroverwashingdishesbyhand.Remembertorundishwashersonlywhentheyarefull.
• Monitoryourwaterbillforunusuallyhighuse—itcouldmean!Checkallfaucets,showers,tubs,andtoilets.• Trythewatermetertesttocheckforleaks:First,makesureallindoorandoutdoorwaterisshutoff,thenrecordthereadingofyourwatermeter.Wait15minutes,andtakeasecondreadingofyourmeter.Ifthereadinghaschanged,youmighthavealeak!
• Don’tuserunningwatertothawfood.Defrostitintherefrigerator.• Ifyourshowerfillsaone-gallonbucketinlessthan20seconds,replacewithalow-flowshowerhead.• Turnoffthewaterwhileyoubrushyourteethorshave,andsaveupto4gallonsaminute.
