Production in the Fashion Industry BEFORE computers
• Usually by a team of workers• Each with their own specific job• Usually extremely time consuming• Repetitive work involved
Computer debut into the fashion world
• Computers were introduced to the fashion industry before the 1980’s.
• They were extremely rare
• After the debut, people found computers to be vastly convenient for designers.
Computer Integrated Industry
• Computers are taking over the repetitive jobs
• Used in production to save time• Storage, presentations, and sales supplies• Used to study variations on a certain
design• Ordering fabrics or materials• Used for it’s precision• Used to e-mail samples to different
departments
Fashion Software's in Fashion
• Certain software’s may include stencils, color options, textures, and create images on the screen.
• One of the most popular software’s is CAD, computer aided design
Computer aided design• Apparatus allows factory tailoring on
a body.• Body dimensions are measured and
inspected by a camera.• Camera converts the measurements
to a wire frame representation of the body (exact dimensions)
• Measurement came be used to form mannequins in that size.
• Pattern sizing and color coordination• With a simple clicks of a button, you
can change the pattern of the shirt, color of the shorts, even accessories on different skin tones.
Sketching?• Sketching is still frequently done by
hand. • However, computers can help enhance
the sketch. • Transferring the sketch to a computer
can help you place the design upon an actual body.
• Consider variations that can make the design better.
• Sketching can also be done with a computer’s interface with a sensor equipped pen and tablet.
Computer aided Production
• Development of textiles.• In textile production, plants are monitored by
computers. • As well as the weaving and dying
departments.• Linear programming is frequently used in the
fashion industry
