MINISTRIES COURAGE TO CHANGE As a Christian you have the most glorious privilege of being
as example of Christ to everyone around you. You best do
so by being humble, gentle, patient, and loving just as God
has been with you. Think of what that means for you to-
day. You have the opportunity to remind others that God
loves them dearly. And they will be attracted to him
because of the qualities he shows through you. LOVE IN ACTION
A special thanks to Linny Murphy who has devoted many
hours per week to organizing the food pantry these past
several months. Her organization helps the pantry to run
much smoother when we are serving. Spring is often
considered a time of revival. Our revival should awaken
our hearts to an increased awareness of the presence of
God, a new love for God, and a new hatred for sin and
hunger for HIS word! Are we willing to unbolt all doors and
give God freedom to enter and rearrange our lives? Only
in doing this will true revival occur.

Love in Low Places
John 13:12-14 says: “12When he had washed their feet and put on his outer garments and resumed his place, he said to them, ‘Do you understand what I have done to you? 13You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am. 14If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.’” These verses aren’t difficult…to read or grasp that is. I recall a time when I’d been praying for God to help me be a servant. God answered me at our daughter’s wedding. It was a flurry of activity and only about 20 minutes before the ceremony started. The groom’s Dad came up to me and said that a groomsman vomited in the bathroom and didn’t make it to the toilet. I’m thinking, “What are ya tellin’ me for?” Then I think, “Who can I get to clean this up? I can’t. I’m in a new suit. Besides, I’m the bride’s father! And the preacher!” But the groom’s Dad was a preacher, too. I didn’t want to look bad. So I got a mop and some Lysol and cursed the song “Make me a Servant.” The groom’s Dad later told me I was a great servant. I thought, “If you only knew!” Actually, I don’t think that one “counted.” Jesus calls us to make a choice that’s totally unnatural. He said, “and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all” (Mark 10:44). A slave? “I don’t have to be submissive to anyone.” God spends a lifetime breaking us of this. So we debate verses like this. But have we ever tried it? It might be good to try it before we dismiss it.
Jesus washed all 24 feet that day. He washed the feet of those who didn’t want to serve. He washed the feet of one who refused to be served. He even washed the feet of the one who’d betray him! He wasn’t afraid of losing his dignity or reputation. If you give up your dignity and reputation, you might find both. Maybe one reason we don’t like seeing Jesus wash feet is because we don’t want to receive it…or have to do it. We say, “But they don’t deserve it.” Jesus says, “You’re right. Neither do you.” You’ll never wash the feet of those who hurt you until you let the One you hurt wash yours. Have you let Jesus wash you yet? I mean washed you low. Have you let him love you low? We think: “I’m not that dirty.” Come on—it’s your feet! It’s the dirtiest part of you! Your feet have been in the same streets, the same dust and the same sewers as anyone else. You either let Jesus wash the dirtiest part of you, or you can’t be his. So take off your shoes and then grab a towel. Jeff
