CNC Mitsubishi Programming

DescriptionThis class will teach students the fundamentals ofbasic programming. Students learn Cartesian Co-ordinate Systems, G Codes, basic M Codes, wordaddress, canned cycles, cutter radius compensation, and sub programs. Participants will be given manydifferent examples, as well as write many programs.Safety lines and technique will also be taught.

Outline• Cartesian Systems

- X, Y and Z axes- + and - directions- Positioning- Absolute and Incremental Positioning

(book work sheet)• Programming

- Word address- Assigning a value to the word address- “G” codes- “M” codes- Other codes- Modal and non-modal “G” and “M” codes- Program structure

• Datums- Machine zero- Part zero- Reference planes- Work coordinates

• Programming Moves- Rapid traverse and feed moves (work sheet)

PrerequisitesThe typical student has one or more years experi-ence and is proficient with the use of machine toolsand blueprint reading. A strong math background isalso helpful.

Course Length36 hours.

Performance ObjectivesAt the completion of this course the participant willbe able to:

- Calculate speeds and feeds from manufacturesspecs.

- Use absolute positioning methods.- Use a cartesian coordinate system.- Understand program format.- Edit existing programs.- Write a basic program.

- Radius moves (work sheet)- Tool Changes- Roughing and finishing

• Canned Cycles- G80- G81-G89- G98 or G99- R planes- Initial return planes (work sheets 2)

• Cutter Radius Compensation- G40- G41 and G42- Rules to turn on and rules to turn off- Trouble spots- Tricks (work sheets 2)

• Sub Routines• G10 Functions• Programming Examples• Final Program Done By Students• Machine Tool Options• Questions or Special Help
